We finished off the #summerschool day of #lagb25 at the University of Suffolk with a talk by Prof. Miriam Butt featuring a crash course in the inner working of LLMs and their impact (or not) on theoretical linguistics. Thanks everyone for coming - see you again next year!
We continued the #lagb25 #summerschool with two skills workshops - one on non-academic job interviews designed Dr Anna Marie Trester, and one on presentation skills, led by Dr Laura Bailey (@linguistlaura.bsky.social) from the University of Kent.
The LAGB conference @uosenglish kicked off this morning with our first summer school talk by Prof Enoch Aboh. We delved into the big questions about who is doing linguistics, whose languages are we studying, who makes decisions about funding, and, more importantly, what can we do to make change?
