Good job Calgary – let’s keep it up!
Yesterday’s water usage was 496 million litres (ML) which keeps us in the green zone.

On my way in from Westbrook this AM. The Bearspaw water pipe is offline for critical work. Crews are reinforcing 9 locations on the verge of failure while moving at record speed to build the long-term replacement. Please reduce water use where you can. When Calgary works together, we get through it!
Love the video, Frances.
Everyone in Vancouver, please vote for @fabulavancouver.bsky.social in both the nomination, and in the general election for city council. Most city councillors have a big learning curve, even though some of them don’t seem to think so. Frances has a BIG head start. #VOTE
To begin work on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main, the pipe must be drained.
What you'll see: crews at manholes & valves, water released to the river, and water sampling to confirm dechlorination & monitor oxygen & turbidity levels in the river.

Water restrictions begin today, Calgary!
With the Bearspaw South Feeder Main shut down for reinforcement work, we need your help to conserve water - every drop you can save, helps.

Apparently "NO TAX HIKES PERIOD" means the largest provincial property tax hike in our history.

To give you a sense of how sensitive Alberta’s provincial budget is to global oil prices:
At the current 1-year forward strip for crude oil, Alberta’s budget would go from a $9B deficit to an **$8B SURPLUS**
Begs the question of whether AB should consider hedging these windfall gains at some point
Hi everyone.
If every single one of you seeing this post considered clicking “follow” on our new account/movement, @urbantruth.bsky.social, our work would start regularly reaching a BIG audience, and that’s KEY to us having the REAL IMPACT we hope this initiative will have.
Thanks for considering!
The Bearspaw Feeder Main is now offline for essential maintenance. While crews carry out this critical work, Calgarians can help by conserving water. Small actions across our city make a big difference. Let’s work together and keep Calgary’s water system strong. www.calgary.ca/savewater
“Elon Musk admitted to his biographer that the reason the Hyperloop was announced—even though he had no intention of pursuing it—was to try to disrupt the California high-speed rail project to get in the way of that actually succeeding.” — @parismarx.com in @gizmodo.com. #UrbanTruth
Smith says she's cutting access to social support programs because she "heard that people were moving here just to be on social programs."
This sort of hearsay framing is a dangerous rhetorical device employed by populists. Consider Donald Trump. +
It feels like we get new announcements like this -- more range, more speed, more features, and lower costs -- every few weeks from EV makers.
From conventional automakers? Crickets.

I regret to inform you that the Globe and Mail's business section is at it again.
I'll be taking two pieces into the ol' woodshed today. Let's start with this one:
Yeah, I'm not OK reading this...
This is what is hidden by @nytimes.com @cnn.com and other mainstream coverage when they cover missile strikes... They don't cover the victims and aftermath nearly as much as the flashy bangs.
Folks! I’m looking to interview someone looking to buy a home this year in Calgary, regardless of the property type.
If this is you, or someone you know, message me privately so i can tell you more about the story i’m writing.
NEW: “We’ve let the lies be far too successful, & that’s significantly hurt our cities. No more.”
@grantennis.bsky.social @tomflood.bsky.social & I have a blunt new @usa.streetsblog.org op-ed telling the story of why we’ve created @urbantruth.bsky.social.

On Monday, March 9, the Bearspaw South Feeder Main (BSFM) will be shut down to allow for planned reinforcement repairs to support the stability of the current pipe.

NEW FROM ME:
While US and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iran this weekend, Global News' The West Block host Ben Mulroney reposted video of fighter jets that had been miscaptioned as American F-15s attacking Iran
I double-checked. Ben was actually sharing footage from a video game
In a recent video hosted by the National Post's John Ivison, former Harper adviser Ian Brodie suggested that people in the oil industry think the industrial carbon price in the MOU amounts to...$20 per barrel.
Guy who said he wouldn’t start a foreign war and attacked former Presidents for starting foreign wars and begged like a small child for a peace prize starts foreign war to distract from his guilt sexually assaulting under-aged girls with Jeffrey Epstein.
Who could have seen that coming?
Everyone.
Sometimes the sound archives are wonderful - and tragic.
If you spend time in the bad place, you’re hearing this claim a lot:
Alberta sends $23B more to Ottawa than it gets back. If we separated, we’d erase the $9B deficit and have a $14B surplus.
It sounds simple. It’s wrong. Here's why. 🧵
The provincial government has just imposed the largest property tax increase on Calgarians in history.
In 2026, Alberta is increasing its share of your property tax bill by 21.05%. Nearly 42% of every residential property tax dollar now goes to Province.
If you watch 2 minutes of video today…
Make it this.

Here's another sneak preview of Alberta's budget.
Approval for $40 billion in borrowing; yes you read that right 40 BILLION.
New Order in Council signed today.
#abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
Dear fellow Albertans.
Today, the day before the budget, and by Order in Council, your Premier authorized the province to borrow up to 40 BILLION dollars.
I don't recall any consultation about this Alberta prosperity project? Do you?

Yes, you SHOULD absolutely print off our ads as posters and put them up around your office, home, barber shop, coffee shop…
Plus please just share them A LOT on social media. #UrbanTruth
To be fair, I wouldn't want to be driving much faster anyways with how narrow the streets are in the neighbourhoods in Vancouver with cars parked on both sides. I feel like we need to narrow our streets more as well to help enforce the lower speed limits.
