I agree and relate. My postdoc contract is ending in 1.5 months - it was a recent decision to leave academia and I am working hard to transition into industry. But if I don't find a new position in Denmark within a few short months, I'll have to leave and take my new PhD degree with me.

I'll be joining the panel discussion on social media - my favorite thing I was involved with during my PhD. Come join in the talks!

For example: "Genotype A had longer shoots than Genotype B (Figure 1A)."
Figure 1A is the shoot height boxplot with p-value. Figure legend explains test used, etc.
Should I write: "Genotype A had longer shoots than Genotype B (Wilcoxon test, p < 0.05, Figure 1A)."?

Question in manuscript writing: reporting statistics in the results section.
If the results are presented by referencing the figure, and the stats are clearly presented on the figure and described in the figure legend, do you prefer to also have the stats described in the written results?

An important step in the right direction! I hope this can serve as inspiration for others to start this discussion in their own countries.

How do you suggest discussing this with colleagues who have published in these journals, without them getting defensive over their previous and/or current choices?

So, when my contract at the university is over in 2.5 months (!!!), I'm stepping out into the great unknown. What will I do? Industry research, venture capital, patent law...?
My call for help is: what are you doing after a science PhD, how did you get there? Or just leave a word of advice ๐Ÿ‘‡

While I can see myself being a kick-ass professor, I just can't stomach the (lonely) fight of a 5-7 year postdoc journey. I don't want to move abroad (again), I don't want to work alone on my own project, I don't want to fight my colleagues for ever-shrinking pools of money.

I've spend these 10 months post-PhD eagerly exploring a career in academia. As a postdoc, I wrote papers, networked at conferences, and submitted grants. And in the end, I learned: the academic life is not for me.
