A lot of 80s 'pop' I sniffed at, at the time - because I was so into New Order and The Cure - I now realise wrote really great songs. I still find Duran Duran quite annoying, and they objectively quite silly, but the singles are ace.

If it sounds ok without the pedal, it might just be that strat has lower output than the p90 guitar. Lollars are normally pretty sparkly. Maybe try another pedal with the lollars?
