Unpopular opinion but gas prices have always been too low.
Cheap gas means urban sprawl, giant useless pick up trucks, shitty transit options, shitty rail options and dangerous or no bike & pedestrian options.
Oh and burning less gas means the climate apocalypse gets postponed

The Map of the Universe
I'm a sucker for really good interactive science visualizations.
Check out this one that lets you explore a map of the known universe. It's beautiful, engaging, and very well done.

EU agrees to chop meaty names from vegetarian and vegan food products
Lawmakers will ban use of 31 meat-related names as part of efforts to help livestock farmers in food supply markets
So "lawmakers will outlaw use of 31 meat-related names as part of efforts to help livestock farmers in food supply markets"... just when health, climate & environment scientists are stressing the urgency of helping more livestock farmers OUT of food supply markets?
And what a silly, pointless move!

Sure, renewable energy projects ought contribute to the communities where they operate
Absolutely
But why only solar and wind farms?
Mining and oil and gas developments should do the same

Smart telescopes are brilliant! I have a Unistellar brand and you put a smart scope out, turn it on, it figures out where it is pointing in a few seconds, then you sit back and enjoying a tour of the wonders of the night sky. So renewing and wonderful. Enjoy π€©

Indeed there seems to be a problem with the book section of Amazon (at least) and sale links don't seem to work. I'm sure this will be fixed reasonably soon, and in the meantime, a reminder that Amazon is but one retailer, and my books are available many other places, including your local bookstore.

Solar power is just not feasible
Neither is wind, and its tremendous fumes
And what the hell are batteries? Whoever heard of batteries? How is that even a thing?
Electric vehicles?
Ridiculous tree huggers
How can you save a planet, FFS?
Where's the profit?

Thank you so much for saying the SEALING of the Magna Carta, not the signing of the Magna Carta. It was, of course, sealed and not signed, but most people say signed, which is, of course, wrong (and to me very annoying). π

Six trillion ways to solve climate change Β» Yale Climate Connections
New research shows that mixing and matching manageable climate policy 'wedges' can add up to real solutions.
A new paper on the "stabilization wedge" idea was published in the journal Science today. The authors provide 36 wedge strategies that together can be mixed and matched into more than 6 trillion combinations able to limit global warming to 1.5Β°C. @bhensonweather.bsky.social has a detailed analysis:

How Fossil Fuel Disruptions Lead to Booms in Solar and Batteries
Past oil crises forced countries to cut fuel use and pay high prices, but now falling prices of clean tech offer another solution.
Past fossil-fuel price spikes left import-dependent countries with two options: pay up or cut fuel use. Now there is an alternative in solar and batteries.
I looked at recent examples in Europe, Pakistan, Cuba to glean what might happen with the war on Iran.
