www.nobelprize.org My PhD research was studying Regulatory T cells, so it is super exciting to Shimon Sakaguchi recognised!
We're delighted to see immunologists once again recognised by the #NobelPrize! 🏆
Warm congratulations to the winners - their contributions have been vital in shaping our understanding of the immune system.

To have a PhD in Immunology and seemingly be unemployable both inside and outside of the field is a bitter pill to swallow. A sign of the times...
www.theguardian.com/business/202... Gosh between this and yesterday's Merck/MSD announcement. It's honestly not a great time in Life Sciences for investment. Really disappointing.
A picture of a child holding a pipette simulator. On the attached screen is a picture of a test tube containing red blood with yellow plasma on top. The child's face is obscured with a yellow flower.
I have never seen a pipette simulator before but there's one at the Technician's exhibition at the @sciencemuseum.org.uk Finally my kid has a vague understanding of what I did in the lab hehe!
If a role requires 1-3 years experience at a minimum, it, by definition, cannot be entry level.
Cleaning wounds or broken skin? Only use wipes marked as ‘sterile’. Check your first aid kit: • Sterile wipes only • Undamaged packaging • In-date products
⚠️ Together with @mhragovuk.bsky.social, we’re advising the public to stop using certain non-sterile alcohol-free wipes, as they may be contaminated with Burkholderia stabilis.

We have recorded 529 laboratory-confirmed #Measles cases in England since January 2025, representing a significant increase driven by declining childhood vaccination rates.
Our data dashboard provides data on the total number of cases by week of onset: ukhsa-dashboard.data.gov.uk/vaccine-prev...
This is so horrifying and so tragic. Vaccines save lives.
As temperatures rise, many of us are drawn to the water 🌊
But while the sun may be shining, the water can still pose serious risks. One of the most dangerous is cold water shock 👇

A photo of a seahorse taken underwater amongst the sea grass
*Here's some good news about seahorses!*
Divers recorded 17 of these magical creatures in the seagrass beds last week – the biggest count since lockdown.

This was such a great exhibit!
Every so often it really annoys me that so few Government and other official institutional accounts chose not to cross post here. I do not understand the reasoning at all.
Photo of a whale shark from Arkive
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but whale sharks are definitely sharks. They are not whales. They are not half whale half sharks.
And they’re not vegetarian. Eating lots of tiny animals- plankton- is still eating animals.
Line illustration on a bright green background shows two people engaged in a phone conversation. Headline text reads 'Here's a cheat-sheet on how to build connections.' Text below reads: - Call a loved one - Participate in group activities - Say hello to those around you - Ditch the phone and connect with the person in front of you - Seek help when you feel it's time to dial a professional
Feeling lonely or isolated? You’re #NotAlone.

Spontaneous water play and preparing banana slices for freezing. Trying our best to stay cool (or sane in my case).
