Anybody from the US would love to purchase from a local art quilter there (to make shipping less pricy)?
You've never seen such artistic quilts before! π¨
She also has pillows, tote bags, and mugs with her designs, perfect for a smaller budget.
Any support helps π

When literary agents get real π
(To be clear: I read this somewhere, I wasn't the one receiving this message from an agent. π)

It reminds me of many things π
The ultimate card of publishing: "It's a subjective business."
It's like saying "BUT," and everything said before becomes pointless.

- started contemplating a publishing-related business idea π

Thank you! This is really helpful for understanding the whole picture!
Thanks for the reply! Can you name a few reasons that may be common in these cases?
This terrifies me and gives me hope at the same time. π
It took nearly 20 years π€― for Caroline to get her book published.
Several drafts, her agent ghosting her, having two kids and... I don't know, just living life.
I have so much respect for her will and ability to trust the process.
Does it happen sometimes that an agent likes a story but knows that it will need significant editing, and with the agent being very busy they reject the manuscript as they know they won't be able to dedicate the necessary time and all resources to it?
Why join a beta reader program? π
Thanks to a critique, I think I have the powerful first line I've always wanted but couldn't figure.
Funny part? The sentence was always there in the text, just not as the first line. ππ
Yeah. Writing shouldn't be solitary.

π "pledged to buy meat from slower-growing chickens" That's a THING? I can't believe people still buy into the myth of more and bigger always being better.
One part of my life is leading @thecreatorsdiary.com, and I/we really needed to address this AI craze. I strongly believe that our humanity/ human touch/ human value as creators must be put to the forefront even more now. π #creators #ai

You have a life that no one else has lived. Your point of view is unique and nobody else can tell your stories. This is both heavy and uplifting. Think about it the next time you're doubting yourself as a writer and asking if your story is worth fighting for. #writers #writercommunity #querying #art
Transparency post: I've got an agent reply today, on the 21st of March, to a query I sent on the 8th of October. Half a year of waiting for a "no". If you are querying too, just know: you're not alone and this is freaking hard. Now: "shake it off" & "thank u, next". #querying #writingcommunity
Participating in my first-ever beta reader program this month. I'm quite nervous and undoubtedly feel the responsibility to give critiques that will guide my fellow writers well. Undoubtedly mixed feelings. #writers #writercommunity #booksky
Thank you!
I have a few hours to kill on a train journey today so I'll be around for a spontaneous #askagent session if anyone has any burning #publishing or #querying questions they'd like answered! #booksky π«Ά
Thanks for this! Do you think publishers look for magical realism books these days, and if so, what is used up in this genre and what would they or you like to see more of?
This is everything! ππ

Oh, that feeling of "Now, I've got it"! π
I've just sent my query! :)
Great, thank you!
Are you open to upmarket women's fiction slash magical realism? You mentioned some of these in your list but still, I wanted to ask if this combination could be of interest. Thanks!
I have an always-in-progress list of writer resources that I find valuable and truly helpful. I've just updated it this morning. See if you find it useful: petragauthor.com/resources/
And yes, Leslie Knope fits every message.
I even added it to my writer resources page on my website now. I just had to. I honestly rarely encounter such practical examples about querying and the path to publishing in general. Not that I have a million followers but maybe sharing it anywhere will help someone else, too. π
This is a short, yet powerful thread of actionable tips for writers who know the challenge of balancing busy lives and the dream of getting published π
