Literally hasn't been true since maybe the 1980s, and even that soon got squeezed out by Reganomics and trickle-down bullshit.
Maybe you just don't know how long a generation is, because there have been several since then.

Six more (!!) Eli Crane fundraising emails since Saturday.
He ended 2025 with $2.5 million cash on hand, and his most likely Dem oppnent, @formerpreznez.bsky.social, had just $650k, so it's not a case where he's being outraised by an opponent.
Bad polling for Crane seems even more likely now.
Update: I just got a 7th email, this one about using the military to "stop drug traffickers."
Hilariously, it's got a large error in it.
Well, the pitch in his fundraising is similar to that of Republicans hawking the SAVE Act in general -- we need voter ID, Democrats hate it because they steal elections, don't let them steal this year's, etc.
Limiting mail-in voting is deeply unpopular, so he's not mentioning it.
ICE and Voter ID account for 4 of them, the other 2 are generic "we need your name, Patriot" slop
Since Wednesday, I've gotten 6 fundraising emails from Eli Crane in #AZ02. In the 90 days before that, I didn't receive any.
I bet they're springing to action because of really bad polling.
2026 will be marked by lean GOP seats (like his) being in play because Trump is that toxic.

That Iranian Navy ship we torpedoed had no ammunition on board because that was a requirement to participate in the MILAN 2026 exercise (organized by the Indian Navy).
The US Navy knew this because IT ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE EXERCISE. What a national embarrassment.

Christian Nationalists are ascendant in American government right now, but this dude is salty because SCOTUS has no evangelicals and is instead controlled by Opus Dei-loving Catholic zealots.
The op-ed gets even dumber from there. Really a master class in whining about invented slights.
Tempe, Arizona, has a contract with Flock, a surveillance company that shares data with law enforcement, including ICE. Ending that contract is one candidateβs priority in next weekβs city council election there.

I could have sworn that was a Lincoln quote in fact
It's also not an Orwell quote. At best, it's a paraphrase of an observation he made about pacifists.
But her unironically citing Orwell to defend the MAGA brand of authoritarianism is very on brand.
"Why are we discussing your job performance in the nearby gravel pit? No reason."
If you're upset at ICE murdering Americans in broad daylight, you're "disgraceful," according to #AZ02 Republican Rep. Eli Crane
