...yes, & a culture of reading, where everyone from an early age actively engages with reading; reads books, recommends books, talks about ideas in books, is inspired by books, finds some books disturbing & others liberating, etc..
Everyone sitting around reading books rather than social media.

Fabulous team effort there!
I have a job where I get to gallop around the hall to the theme to Black Beauty, where I can pretend to be a bulb, developing into a daffodil to pretty music. I have the best job in the world.
Oh I know. We need more, not less libraries.
AI generated lesson slides.
Donβt even go there.
Unless you want a laugh!
No criticism of those who have shown amazing creativity in their costumes. I love seeing the photos. I like to dress up! But I do this sporadically π
We didnβt dress up for World Book Day. But we did (as we do every day) enjoy books. π π
I had a pupil once - on finishing their maths ask -
βCan we go and enjoy a book now?β
Nurturing a love of reading doesnβt just happen once a year.
It is such a joy to see independent writing developing over the first year of school. Children become writers when they have a desire to write, are taught the tools for writing, feel confident and are given the space to try.
Iβm not sure my little learners have grasped the concept of this game, but they are enjoying it. π
Pretty impressed with this chalk picture of a daffodil during outdoor learning today. #PlayIsTheWay
"When I was an unhappy little boy, going to the library changed my life. It may even have saved it. Amazing as it sounds, literature can do that for you. Books are your ticket to the whole world. They're a free ticket to the entire earth." Billy Connolly
On World Book Day Iβd like simply say that we need more libraries and book swaps. Iβd like to see them everywhere. In every community, shopping centre, school, social club. Wherever we go. And they should be stocked with lots of brand new books as well as old ones.
No pic and no bio indicates- not going to engage. And I like to engage in chat.
Please do. And add an avatar, it doesnβt need to be your face.

Hi. I'm Toto (childhood nickname). I've been a teacher for 27 years, most of those have been spent in early years. I love seeing the progress that little people make in their first year at school. Working with children keeps me feeling young (ish)!
That is the great thing about teaching the little ones. The progress is so visible.
