There is a distinction between consciously heard, and viscerally sensed; both are valid and necessary for the listening experience.
Our hearing is not passive, it is active and interactive with the hearing environment, on a visceral level.
The ear/brain is not just a passive pair of microphones feeding a processor in as a linear stimulus response model would imply, a more accurate model of the ear/brain involves nested feedback loops.
A recently discovered phenomena, loosely analogous to the iris of the eyes widening and narrowing in response to the intensity of perceived light, including glasses blocking out UV and the iris not contracting sufficiently in sunlight is this:
Our ears are not passive; they are active participants in sound, interacting with the environment in a way which leads to brain/mind entrainment with what we hear. This dynamic aspect of hearing appears to have been useful to our physical ancestors having a wide range of hearing, predators sensing prey food or prey sensing predators and not becoming food, the directional/spatial cues of a small snap of a twig being stepped on, against a background of thunder for instance. It also is what facilitates brain entrainment from anything rhythmic as the hippocampus "decodes" the envelope of sound from both ears: traditional shamanic drumming, pounding deep house mixes at raves and festivals, isochronic tones, binaural beats, the slow subharmonics of singing bowls, the liquid quality of piano strings resonating with each other, the nuances of jazz bass. The ear/brain is in a feedback loop, responding to the initial slope of sonic events, which tightens and loosens muscles around the eardrum in anticipation of high amplitude events; essentially following the envelope of the magnitude or intensity of the sound perceived.

Happy Valentine’s Day. The irony is that, archetypal attractions, those people you meet where the chemistry is off the charts and you simply cannot resist the sensual desires simmering between you and them --- are often the worst possible mates for you. The fires of passion quickly regress into chaotic disaster, but it’s already too late as you are intertwined in that chaotic disaster; and although believers may talk about lessons learned, really it’s just re-traumatizing for one or both. Your cat knows best.
Real, soul to soul connections just ARE, no drama, no fireworks. Relaxed, almost effortless ease and flow. Passion when mutual which is on another level, but, again, minimal chaos. It can and does happen. Listen to your cat.

33 Bowls Spectral is named as an acknowledgment of neurospicy brains, the ones on the spectrum, the ones wired differently in ways that are incomprehensible to a more traditional mindset. Try listening with headphones, preferably full range ones, or speakers that have deep, tight bass. Morning and Rain took you to the room, Breathe puts your head near to the singing bowls; Spectral puts you inside the large, deep pitched, sonorous singing bowls. Zen-like minimalist, to take you there, not show off or distract. The timing is specifically matched to 1/T of 0.1 Hz and harmonics, which is a rhythm that corresponds to ocean waves, the cranial wave, the valsalva wave, when heart rate variability is in synchronization with breathing as the serpentine pulse during coherent meditative states. Way better for your brain/mind/CNS/heart/gut than artificial binaural or isochronic beats. The bell at the end is to remind you to come back, if you want to. As always, 33 Bowls recordings are as clean and pure as possible, custom microphones and electronics, no compression or limiting, no artificial anything, and certainly no Ai. Although prior 33 Bowls recordings have been scraped by Ai bots for production of generic tunes without paying royalties, this is the real thing which does support an independent Artist.

Every culture and sub-culture has tried to explain or explain away the ghost in the machine, the underworld, the non-physical, the spiritual, through metaphors according to whatever the dominant paradigm of that culture is. Angels and Demons in the Bronze age, Goblins and Trolls in the middle ages, flying saucers in the mid 20th Century, simulation hypothesis in early 21st Century. And yet, the ghost in the machine refuses to go away no matter how much strict materialists wish it so; conversely, the ghost in the machine also refuses to manifest as a concrete entity no matter how much those with a more superstitious perspective wish it so. Remember: the map is not the territory. Enjoy the mystery and the journey.

Think of it this way: while we, as human beings or human becomings have considerable innate potential, we also do need to learn many a β€œhow to”. We are hardwired to connect on many levels, and, occupying mammalian bodies, we have a need for touch that is probably as essential as food, air, water, shelter. This ability to connect and touch can be enhanced through training at a good massage school.

Think of it this way also: if you are in the economic strata where you have massages on a regular or semi-regular basis, for the cost of maybe 20 massages you can train and learn, during which you will give and receive more than 20 massages. An investment with almost zero downside. Not necessarily as a career, althought it could be, but as a life enhancing experience.

Think of this also: Greatly enhanced relationship; deeper, more pleasurable connection. Obvious?

What makes a good massage school? Your instinct will tell you. How do you pick one? Your instinct. Do you feel comfortable? Is the vibe right? Is the story coherent? You can tell when an instructor is β€œpresent” physically and emotionally. Almost anybody can teach technique, but it is a rare and special facilitator who can show how to truly be present, which starts by them being there.

On the flip side, do the facilities or facilitators engage in manipulative emotional practices (including ones under the guise of β€œprocess”) as part of the studies? Beware of any kind of power trips, particularly involving groupthink. The understanding of boundaries is important, and a school needs to respect them on all levels. There is a distinction between sensual and sexual, and understanding the appropriateness of such is important. Again, do the facilitators teach this by example and is the place/space one where it is safe and comfortable but not rigidly uptight? The ones that are rigid and uptight are often the ones hiding their shadows in a different way from the blatant or flamboyant ones. True of life in general.

Two fundamental flaws in the delusion/fantasy:

One, language arose from intelligence, not the other way around.

Two, neurons interconnected in a brain, which neural networks are attempting to mimic, are way more complex than simple nodes.

This all started centuries or even millennia ago, long before the industrial age, when there was no entertainment industry, when everything was 100% organic. This original heavy metal music was not just background music at ancient temples, nor entertainment for royalty; it appears that brain/mind entrainment into deeper states, and dis-entrainment into the "state of no state" facilitated by the complex, rich, textured harmonics and sub-harmonic beats was intentional. It is quite likely that exploration of the resulting states and non-states was a facet of the spiritual, for lack of better words, training and education; that the sounds acted as guides or stepping stones to making non-ordinary states become more ordinary, at least to those who practiced.

Much, maybe most music is about communicating a message of sorts, usually emotional, the dance of the mating ritual in various permutations, we know the stories.

33 Bowls does not directly do that, the intention is to hold the space to facilitate and enhance whatever is present. What it is doing is providing a coherent, yet complex natural β€œsignal” for the ears/ brain/mind/heart/CNS/gut to entrain to and β€œdrop” into a more relaxed, lower stress state of being. Our ears are not passive; they are active participants in sound, interacting with the environment in a way which leads to brain/mind entrainment with what we hear, whether it is traditional shamanic drumming, pounding deep house mixes at raves and festivals, binaural beats, the slow subharmonics of singing bowls, the liquid quality of piano strings resonating with each other, the nuances of jazz bass, or the breath and heartbeat of someone close to us.

And as we, through our ancestors, have heard sounds of natural, acoustic instruments for centuries or even millennia, there is something innately familiar, even sacred, about the sound of these and other antique musical instruments.

Times have always been crazy, this era seems particularly so. Nothing makes sense unless you understand this fundamental:

The Grand Muse is curious.

Multiple manifold spaces bubbling in and out of existence over aeons, each with slightly different initial conditions for emergent phenomena to, well, emerge and trajectories to flow, each one naively believing it was created and is the only universe; all the while entities are trapped in the trajectories of their own illusions and delusions. Some, very few, wake up and realize they are not just passive particles in a grand scheme, but remember that in fact they are volitional and begin to realize the ramifications of that gift.

In this this corner of a universe, two factors are at the root of the current destructive chaos, both centered around the manifestation of powerful illusions:

First, the discovery and implementation of fractional reserve banking. Early goldsmiths found a loophole around the taboo of charging usury to their own cult, which set off an exponential growth of materialism with a corresponding concentration of power, shifting, but ever more concentrated.

Second, the granting of legal rights to corporations as persons under law. Started in one former Crown Colony, expanded to the entire world. This further exacerbated the materialist trend of concentration of power.

Both of these β€œinventions” are at the root of the current parasitic modality, a cancerous growth without regards for the host, the illusion and allure of unlimited expansion in a finite space.

It’s too late to put those Pandoras back in the box. The best we can do is alleviate suffering as we are able, be kind and loving to each other and the Planet, while recognizing and setting healthy boundaries around parasites and predators who abuse the concentration of power, all within the context of current paradigms.

Avoid cults and cult-like behaviour, and remember: the Grand Muse is curious.

If only some genius or team of geniuses would invent a new digital audio process and format that:

-- eliminates the glassy digital harshness, edge, glare, the subliminal fuzz of most digital PCM music, for both new β€œhi-res” recordings and remasters, and existing redbook recordings.

-- provides full bodied natural warmth, ambience, imaging, soundstaging, attack/delay/sustain/release, tight and solid bass; an emotional connection to enjoy the music.

-- is more bandwidth efficient than DSD and even β€œhi-res” PCM.

-- has some kind of verification to determine if the recording is bit perfect or has been altered.

And just to make the project more challenging for the genius team, make this new process/format backwards compatible with the existing PCM format, containers and infrastructure.

Wouldn’t that be great?

33 Bowls music is tested on animals. They approve. #caturday

Thank a feline next time you reach for a slice of pizza. Early agriculture depended on cats to keep rodents from eating the stored grains and other food, enabling civilization to flourish. There are good reasons why the ancient Egyptians treated cats with reverence. #caturday
