Iβve written to the CEO of Travelodge following a disturbing case where a woman was sexually assaulted after a man was reportedly given her room number and a key card by reception staff.
Alongside MPs and Peers from across Parliament, Iβve asked Travelodge to meet with us to explain what happened.
Businesses and institutions have a responsibility to protect the people who trust them with their safety. When that trust is broken, it must be taken seriously, and lessons must be learned.
My thoughts are with the victim, and I commend the courage it takes to speak out.
It is also hard to understand how a Β£30 refund could be considered an appropriate response from Travelodge.
I am writing to the CEO of Travelodge to request a meeting to understand how such a failure on this scale could have occurred.
Every woman and girl should feel safe wherever they are β especially in places that are meant to provide security and privacy. Incidents like this are a stark reminder that we must continue to do more to tackle violence against women and girls and ensure proper safeguards are in place.
One in five allergy-related deaths among school-aged children in the UK occurs in school.
Parents should be able to send their child to school and know that they will be safe, which is why this government is bringing in stronger protections for children with allergies.
Labour are bringing in stronger protections for children with allergies in school.
New guidance will make sure all schools have spare adrenaline auto-injectors, allergy awareness training for all staff, comprehensive allergy safety policies, and Individual Healthcare Plans for affected children.
A huge thank you to Dean Academy for hosting us.
Once again, thank you to all the schools taking part, and Iβm really looking forward to session three later this week!
It was fantastic to see protocol put into practice as students selected their cabinets and stood against one another to apply the theory they had learned. Itβs really great to see confidence growing among the students and to watch their understanding of Parliament develop in real time.
Last week saw the second session take place for Mock Parliament.
During the session, we discussed parliamentary protocol and learned the etiquette of the chamber β from debating and speaking in the House of Commons, to how to properly address the Speaker, and much more.
It is parliamentary green :)
Please get in touch with my team and me at matt.bishop.mp@parliament.uk if you need support too.
Great result for a constituent who sought my office's help in securing an accessibility ramp to get in and out of their home following their hip operation.
I am pleased the ramp has now been fitted, and we were able to help and support this family.
This reflects my work with Fair Game to ensure football is inclusive for all, and I will continue to support efforts that move us closer to that goal.
A zero-tolerance approach is essential. Racism has no place in football, a game that should be a force for bringing people together, not one that divides.
I have co-signed a letter to the CEO of the Football Association following appalling incidents of racism on several occasions.
It is vital that the FA shows clear leadership in tackling racism, while social media companies must do far more to act when this abuse moves online.
On Thursday, I was pleased to host my third SEND event here in the Forest of Dean, bringing together parent carers, families, charities, local organisations and professionals to discuss the Governmentβs proposed SEND reforms.

This week I joined IJM about the horrific issue of livestreamed child sexual abuse and the new AI-driven, on-device detection technology which could help stop it, preventing offenders from harming children and making the internet safer for everyone.

It is vital for my constituents, victims, their families, charities, and the organisations I work with that power is held to account.
No matter who you are, everyone should be held to the same standard.

Itβs Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and I want to take the opportunity to remind constituents far and wide that they are not alone.

You are not alone.
It's vitally important that children with special education needs get the right support at the right time, and so I welcome the White Paper on SEND, published yesterday.
We need to hear from you and your family. Make sure to have your say!

Thereβs more to do, but Labour is getting our economy back on track!
Great to attend Level Playing Fieldβs annual βUnite for Accessβ campaign last week.
Hearing such passionate voices in the room speaking about access and inclusion for disabled fans at football matches was powerful and I look forward to working with them in the future to increase accessibility.
