I’m lettering Colori Colore Creare vol 1 for Titan Manga and this little girl is adorable 🥹
Outside of the 580+ sfx and 190+ asides, I’m really enjoying working on this volume 😂
Manga companies, please pay us $8/page!
The small and new publishers can do it, surely the big companies with owners who make $3 million+ per year can afford it too!!

if anyone knows of other manga design related books please let me know!
Also interested in light novel design ones too (since I currently do designs for an english LN publisher lol)
My current collection of manga design related books~
As someone who wants to work on manga covers/logos for english publishers, I find these books to be very interesting. Admittedly I can’t read Japanese so I do have to rely on translator apps but I feel like I can still learn a lot from them.
I’ve been trying to collect books focused on logo/cover design of manga and just got a new one!
“新しいコミックスのデザイン”
The first part of the book has case studies for 3 titles and then the rest are two page spreads featuring different series with info about their logos and design

Thank you!
Thank you!
J-Novel just announced it which means I can reveal my new series!
I did the logo (& other design work) for the “Proud to Be the Villainess” light novel!
I really love the covers for this series and can’t wait to work on all of them 🤩

Looks like Lady Bumpkin & Her Lord Villain Vol. 7 is up on J-Novel’s site, which means I can share the cover!
A little sad that I only have one more volume left to work on. This series has been one of my absolute favorite titles to design for. 🥹

Vrooooom
CRASH ( from Record Journey vol 1)
Currently working on vol 2 but figured I’d share a little sfx sneak peak for vol 1!
For some reason I decided to hand-draw the sfx for this series 🥲😆

Another lettering sample from “The Fight and Flight of the Sickly Villainess”
Retouching that ceiling was a pain 😆

Forgot to post this…
Here is Brilliant Healer’s (Manga) vol 5 cover!
Gonna be honest I have no memory of working on this cover but apparently I did do it 🫣😆
#lightnovel #jnovel
Look at them 🥹 (I took this video before I printed the other covers)
But look how cute it is! Like a mini portfolio book hehe
Now I need some new series so I can add them to the book lol 👀😆

Right! Kinda surprised they printed so well lol 😆
I printed more 😆
I got a new printer today and so obviously I printed out some of the covers I’ve worked on (and then put them in a postcard holder I had hehe) 😆

A little glance at the “new” J-Novel series I started working on in 2025.~
(Not pictured is my unannounced title 🥲)
I really like working on shojosei-esque light novels/manga 😆 (Repeated Vice being the odd one out lol). The covers are always just so pretty looking

For subtitles, I typically like to go more simple and less stylized compared to the logo. So for this series’ subtitle I went with a fairly plain serif font. I wanted a font that has good readability, since it’s basically a sentence long lol.
#lightnovel #jnovel #logo
These edits to the font were inspired by details on the jp logo. For “No More” I kept it simpler with no extra details. Tho the original design I made actually had brackets around “No More” similar to the jp logo, but I was later asked to remove it.
#lightnovel #logo
Lets talk about “Notorious No More”
For the main logo I went with a serif font with a fairly large variation in thickness. I made some minor edits, adding the detailing on the “N”, the curl on the “o”’s, changing the dot on the “i” to a different shape, as well as the cutouts in “r” and “s”.
In 2025, I worked on 26 volumes as a logo/cover designer and lettered the equivalent of 14.5 volumes!
My goal for 2026 is to continue on, and hopefully work with some more pubs. (Especially as a designer). So if anyone is hiring or knows of any opportunities feel free hit me up!

Vol 2 of Repeated Vice has started streaming on J-Novel’s site so here’s the cover~
The trickiest part of working on this volume was reformatting the subtitle to fit horizontally.
#lightnovel #logodesign
Ultimately it was suggest to have the text placed in a square or rectangular shape so that it would fit well on each cover and wouldn’t need to be edit a ton.
When finalizing the logo, I decided to turn the “T” in “Master” into a sword. Which adds some visual interest.
#lightnovel #design
The jp cover has the text taking up the whole sky area, but this isn’t feasible for the english version. Not every cover has that specific set up, so the logo would likely have be moved and reformatted with each cover which just creates a lot of work.
The struggle with this logo and cover was figuring out the formatting and placement. We wanted the logo to be above the subtitle but that leaves very little space to fit the logo due to the characters heads being in that area.
Font wise: The red and gold jp text reminded me of a serif font with variations in thickeness. (Some parts are thick, others skinny). For “From” and “To”, I matched the smaller black text from the jp cover. Since it was plain, with no variation in thickness I went with a san serif font.
Let’s Talk Old Country Bumpkin
Setting up the logo and first cover layout for this series was a struggle. More so than any other series I’ve worked on.
Also fun fact I got assigned this title at the same time as the Brilliant Healer’s LN and manga
Similar to Brilliant Healer, I did have alternative logo ideas that matched the style of the jp logo a bit more but ultimately it was decided to keep things simple and as close to the LN logo as possible.
