Absolutely. I just say that because sometimes people too closely associate skinny with fit. Muscle strength and elasticity are more important in my opinion. Take it from someone who was a very thin athlete in my youth. I was sooooo injury prone. I would have been a better athlete if I had more bulk.

Fair enough, though I would caution you not to lean too heavily into the idea that being thinner=easier to learn. That's not always the case, and you can end up artificially limiting yourself with that mentality or creating some negative associations unintentionally.

I'm just curious why you feel these are mutually exclusive? Skating can be a very good workout, I feel like it's feasible to learn and lose weight at the same time. And you might not even need to do that much of a calorie deficit that way.
