Mme Sullivan’s Ks enjoyed learning about snow and snowflakes. We read “Snowflake Bentley,” which highlights W.A. Bentley’s pioneering photography of snowflakes. Students made digital snowflakes, practiced adding details, and we are creating a class book inspired by Bentley’s work. In progress.

Working on Grade 1/2 lantern design and construction for our upcoming Lunar New Year Lantern Walk mid-February. Here is my lantern. I love creating along with the students. As a librarian, I’m lucky to have the time to collaborate with classes. #sd79 #librarylife #inclusion #diversity #kindness

Kindness, curiosity, acceptance, learning, and understanding are all elements in Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and the best libraries.

My resolution is to buy nothing for the year. I will be only buying books for the library in local bookstores that embrace diversity. My LLC FB and Insta pages are active with families at school, so while I cannot stop using Meta, I can decrease my personal use and I have stopped my account on X.

Last year, when local hate groups were planning anti-queer protests, a group of us went out the night before to chalk love messages where they’d gather. Counter messaging without having to be in the face of hate. Safer. Take their space. Demoralize *them*

Mme C’s Gr3s were inspired by the story Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett, so we decided to use our LLC extra yarn to make tree ornaments to gift to others at Cerwydden Seniors Community. Another example of our #CowichanMonthlyTeaching for December: Thuluqtul ch ‘u kwthun’ kwunmun - sharing what you have.
