If you're a creative, especially in film, you must read this @fangoria.bsky.social post by @toddfarmer.bsky.social who talks about living in his car in 2014. It's heartbreaking, it's inspiring, and it's OH SO GODDAMNED RELATABLE.

Look at you. You're really something. How many words do you know? So many! You know so many words. When did you learn all that and how do you retain it? Amazing. I'm sorry, did you just grab and lift that tea cup with your fingers without even thinking about how to do it?! You, friend, are magic.
"Put forward a consistent, polished, and memorable best face that reflects the features of your work to those most likely to be interested" is good, actually.
The problem is that the practice - branding - was cooked in the service of bottomless greed; it takes an effort to get the stink off it.
NEW βWeβre celebrating a tradition that is at its core about resisting occupation and maintaining community in the face of horrors. You canβt keep politics out of Irish music. No one should try, for two reasons. First, itβs ahistorical. Second, Minnesotans are ready for a big anti-fascist party.β

Many happy returns, Laird! I took this as a sign to finally preorder (Pretty) Red Nails.

I've made hirelings available in my current West Marches game, but my players haven't had much interest (outside of downtime) despite having lots of gold to blow. It may just be one thing too many to think about.
Anyone can make TTRPGs. The barrier to entry is peopleβs perspectives of success that are encouraged through capitalistic, predatory practices.
It's good advice. If you're a cis dude who still has men like this in your life, this is important work. Because they're not gonna listen to people like me.
There's a lot of truth to this, but also: reading by itself isn't the answer. Lots of right-wing people are readers - they just read awful books. Awfully written, and full of awful ideas.
Ah, this is doing numbers, so I am now contractually required (demonic pact) to post about my latest release: A hazy hecxrawl through a frozen tundra and the warm dirt of necromancy.

I say this as someone who doesn't play 5e.
The people who only play 5e are fine. They don't NEED to try different systems. It isn't a moral failing. They're doing what they like. Stop giving a shit and just worry about what YOU like.
Not lostβ¦just waiting to be found.

I just started this and it's a delight.
I make cool stuff for TTRPGs. All 100% human-made, artisinal nerdcraft - I do all the writing and layout (and sometimes art) myself.

I did not share the original story because my gut was that the sourcing was dubious. Someone who knows more about the sole source confirms that skepticism. Don't fall for clickbait, read the piece linked below.
(If the story is confirmed by other outlets, that's another thing. But ... it's not)
Really interesting spread of responses here; it's fascinating to see the various things that have made a difference to creators.
(Me, I'm but a Tiny Guy and I dream of any coverage at all, but it's neat to think of what I might reach for someday.)
