Watching Louise Caseyβs speech at @nuffieldtrust.org.uk Health Summit.
She traces the history of care from 1948, where Beveridgeβs lack of focus on social care was in large part down to lower life expectancies & unpaid care.
Thatβs changed but she says βwe havenβt looked it in the faceβ.
Clearly it would have been nice if Palace had beaten them today, but, you know, respect for this.

James Milner, 40 years young, starts for Brighton at Brentford to make his record-breaking 654th Premier League appearance π
He's also the first man to play in 24 PL seasons, the competition's second-oldest scorer and its second-youngest scorer. Astonishing longevity π

Get in LFCW! A win. An actual win!
This sounds like a quiet, technical update that will end up radically transforming communities.
Long time coming, this. A new Treasury Green Book with place-based analysis, taking account of the different economic history and potential across the UK. Very pleased Liverpool will help lead this new approach.

Ellen Wilkinson, postwar education minister, died on this day 1947.
10 years of argument followed.
Today's debate on the two child limit shows that evidence matters. Thank you to everyone who made the argument, never gave up, kept listening to families and helped us move forward.
Our kids deserve this investment.
Keep going.
Ten years ago in Feb 2016 we debated in the Commons the bill that drove up child poverty.
The question: does money matters for children's life chances?

This is a historic day for children and families across the UK as legislation to remove the two-child limit from our social security system starts to make its way through Parliament. The two-child limit was an awful experiment that hurt children. More than any other policy, the two-child limit is responsible for driving child poverty to its current record high. Poverty has a devastating impact on young lives. Children going without things they need to learn and grow, living in damp homes, struggling at school, facing isolation and stress. Today marks the moment when we start to turn things around for the next generation. We commend the government for making the choice to scrap the two-child limit and ask all MPs to stand with children and support this Bill. Every child deserves the best start in life, with a decent childhood that lays the foundations for a strong future. Ending the two-child limit sets our country on the right path to meet that ambition.
Today the Bill to end the two-child limit starts to make its way through Parliament.

Weβve joined 65 other orgs in asking all MPs to support this Bill.
