Trying to exercise when youβre recovering from burnout can be so difficult.
I do have some free weights & a weighted vest β I do plan to incorporate them when Iβm ready. But Iβm taking it super slow this time β I have a tendency to do too much too fast & then get uber fatigued.
I am very much enjoying the audiobook of Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang. First book of hers that Iβve read. Moira Quirk does a fantastic job narrating!

Iβm doing my best here. Maybe a little encouragement first.
I get that the advice is coming from a place of love, but weβre in vastly different levels in terms of fitness & conditioning β I gotta take it slow.
Like, Iβm fighting my way back from burnout thatβs grounded me for almost 2 years β Iβve just moved from 20 to 25 mins daily on the elliptical machine. How about you let me develop a sustainable & enjoyable practice before you tell me my practice is π© and I need to add additional exercises in.
Iβve recently started exercising more regularly again & what I find slightly annoying is the (mostly) well-meaning, but somewhat condescending advice from people who already have a well-defined exercise plan. Eg. βIβm surprised you havenβt incorporated weightlifting yet.β
Iβm so fucking tired of hearing about Trump every fucking day..
Thanks Brooke!
The elliptical was always my favourite machine when I used to have a gym membership years ago.
Iβve inherited mine from my cousin-in-law who used to own a gym in California, but heβs downsizing his equipment since moving back to Canada. Lucky me!
I endangered my life bringing home an elliptical machine last Friday evening.
We rented a HomeDepot cargo van to move it & apparently the van didnβt have winter tires, so when it started snowing, we had zero, zilch, NO tractionβheadlights were crap too. It was a wild & scary drive home on the 401.

2nd week going to an evening lane swim at my community pool. Still feeling wholly out of shape, but amazingly my frozen shoulder feels ever so slightly better than last week!
Ooh, Iβll have to look for them next time Iβm there!
White text on a red background reads: Hillary Clinton was right. Anita Hill was right. Michelle Obama was right. Kamala Harris was right. E. Jean Carroll was right. Please start listening to women. Women Forward logo at bottom.

Itβs especially sad that the Waterloo location closed because it was near the Flying Squirrel yarn store, Bauer cafe, Vincenzoβs, & up the street was Wordsworth Books. A perfect mix of everything one could possibly need.
You can still order online & either do in-store pickup or get free shipping for orders over $75.00. I just like to browse in-store.
Plus i get to go to Fanfare Books & Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe while in Stratford. π All I need is to discover a yarn store there and itβd be my version of a utopia.
And apparently I spelt Stratford wrong in my hashtag π€¦ββοΈ

The pictures shows a selection of loose leaf tea from Distinctly Teaβa small Canadian Tea Shoppe located in Stratford, Ontario. Teas are: Cinnamon Chai Pu-Erh, Scottish Breakfast, Chamomile Flower, Blueberry Black, Chocolate Black, Earl Grey Green, Chocolate Supreme Rooibos, and a free sample of Black Currant tea. The first 4 are favourites of mine, but the green and chocolates are new for me to try out.
Cozy goodnessβtodayβs tea purchase from my favourite tea shoppe in Stratford, OntarioβDistinctly Tea.
We braved the extreme cold temps and punishing winds and ventured out to Stratford since they no longer have a Waterloo location.

Second audiobook dnf of the year & this one is for an author who I usually enjoy reading.
Seanan McGuireβs Middlegame.
I may give it another go sometime in the future, but perhaps Iβll try the print version.

Started listening to the audiobook of Octavia Butlerβs Parable of the Sower. Iβve read it before, but listening to it in 2026 there is an unsettling eerie/uncanny recognition.

Today we honor Dr. King by remembering that his legacy wasnβt comfort or quiet it was courage, sacrifice, and resistance in the face of injustice. He knew progress is never handed down; itβs pushed forward by ordinary people who refuse to accept inequality as normal.

Interesting that Algoma Steel in Ontario got $500 million dollars in loans from federal & provincial governments in September 2025 & are now laying off 1,000 people as of March 2026. It was mean to βprotect Canadian steel jobsβ β so, where is all that money going? π€
Another day, another (lack of) caffeine headache brought on by waiting to drink coffee until later in the morning and limiting myself to 1 cup.
I have had a cup of herbal tea and a mug of hot water with a lemon slice. But my brain stubbornly wants its caffeine dose.

I agree! I need to let them go rather than trying to struggle through them.

Planted some herb seeds indoors to start my 2026 growing season: sage, rosemary, oregano, thyme, spearmint, 3 varieties of basil, and catnip. π±πͺ΄
π€they grow β theyβre from old seeds, not from my recent order.

Iβve jumped on this trend of drinking hot water instead of cold water β I love it.
I used to do it all the time when I was intermittent fasting.
But I do find Iβm drinking less coffee (which is π― fine) but the reduced caffeine is leaving me feeling a bit draggy this week. Iβm sure Iβll adjust.
