Not really. In my limited experience if you can get a referral from a social or work group that's best. For Yelp, I've found it kind of works to message with a bunch of candidates. You can write up a brief summary and ask for a quote. Most will send you a form response, but some will engage

While walking my kid to the park over the weekend, an older fellow stopped and chatted with us about a house being gut renovated. Next thing I know, he's telling me about how important it was to pass "13" (since he's apparently on a first name basis with it and didn't even call it "Prop 13")

MTC directs a decent amount of funding and staff time toward transit signal priority

TSP on Alameda's Park Street is just about to start construction

In 2025, MTC also funded TSP for Fruitvale (!)

Why buy an EV?

So you can then pick between a charger in DeWalt orange or Ubiquiti white/blue....

poster about Alysa Liu celebration rally "in partnership with Invisalign"

First I was wondering whether we send our kid to the same East Bay orthodontist as a gold medal skater

Then I learned those aren't braces in Alysa Liu's mouth

But her celebration rally is sponsored by Invisalign?

Now I'm both old and confused...

Why it matters:
- it's boring to read
- I'm lazy
- you're lazy
- embrace laziness

Go deeper:
- buy 50,000 copies of the Smart Brevity(TM) book and send them to everyone who works for your corporation

Oof. But on the upside, given that it's Google and they always create 100 different slapdash UIs, it's somewhat more likely that it's cross tenant data leakage at the app level than the LLM level πŸ™ƒ

Mapzen bans Trump for terms of service violation In our view, the current President promotes hate and violence and we refuse to support it. We are proactively banning Trump for terms of service violation, for 120 days (at least).

About a million years ago, Mapzen (RIP) banned the Trump administration from using our services. At the time it felt hypothetical, a preemptive ban on "what if" questions. I never imagined it would play out for real with today’s most prominent tech company. www.mapzen.com/blog/mapzen-...

Fellow armchair analysts, let's keep in mind many things going on at once:

- the Trump regime is awful
- too many US metros continue to lag int'l peers in quality of life

but also:

- US salaries are meaningfully higher than many other developed nations
- there's genuine economic opportunity here
