Nope, I’m not even a ham clock user, just passed along the info to help people not get caught off guard. After 30 some years I’ve chased enough dead end radio projects only to be disappointed I thought it was worth a mention. Hope the alternative works for folks who desire it.

We call hams that have passed away silent keys. I’m a youngish operator, but at it now for 30 years so thought I’d ask. Another long gone friend on the radio said he wasn’t bothered by thoughts of the end. Energy is a closed system & our energy never leaves this universe. Great pic & as we say 73!

As we advance in license class we earn a shorter call. NX3K was his extra class call. Novice calls were 2x3, techs and generals like me 1x3, advanced were 2x2. It’s hard to get to extra, he must have been very proud of it. You can keep your old call, my dad is an extra but kept his general call.
He’s not in my log, but he also held WN4KTD, WB4KTD, WA3ZVV, and N3DMY. I never thought about changing my call sign. For a while N2QFC, N2QFD, N2QFE were within 50 miles. I’ve still got my sibling call N2QFC I talk with weekly. When the FCC is the other mother you share with your brothers.
