For nearly a year, Sudan’s devastating civil war has halted most of South Sudan’s oil exports, the country’s main source of revenues, after the pipeline transporting the oil to Port Sudan on the Red Sea fell into disrepair.

This evening, there was a shootout around the Thongpiny Estate in Juba, #SouthSudan. An attempt to arrest the former internal security chief, Akol Koor, who had been fired in October, triggered this worrying development.
