My favorite #horror filmβand one of my top films of any genreβwas nominated for 10 Oscars and won for Best Adapted Screenplay (the book is fantastic too!) and Best Sound.

CITIZEN KANE (1941)
Orson Wellesβ masterpiece detailing the meteoric rise and humiliating fall of a powerful media mogul, complete with stunning cinematography.
Nominated for nine Oscars, it only won for Best Original Screenplay.
I saw it years ago. Not a Fellini favorite but itβs okay.
Definitely worth it, Ian.

Sterling Hayden as a hard-nosed detective is solid, as are Gene Nelson and Phyllis Kirk as the couple forced to comply with the bad guys.
CRIME WAVE is a classic example of how #FilmNoir can reach great heights on a low budget.

Louis Hayward becomes increasingly unhinged as the killer, using what has happened as the plot for a new book heβs writing.
The filmβs Victorian atmosphere is effective and handsomely filmed.
Iβm a big Lang fan, so that may influence why I found it absorbing start to finish.
