Something about the photo aesthetic of the inset Iron Horse mid swing there reminded me of a DiMaggio card I love - National Chicle fine pen - I’m a sucker for an action shot.

Would be wild if the responsible collector would see their own handiwork on a post like this and respond. That ever happened, @spoart.bsky.social ?

Photo of the following quote from Joward Zinn
"TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.
What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places-and there are so many-where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.
And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory."
- Howard Zinn

You are most welcome kind sir … the Brooklyn outfield of Furillo in left, The Duke of Flatbush in center and a rookie named Roberto in right

Revisionist history can be beautiful.

Ok I’m going to drop a Bob Miller … point of confusion, I had to go remind myself. There were 2 on the original Mets, a lefty and a righty 👇:

(&if not mistaken there was a third Bob Miller who overlapped these two hurlers in the 50s … w one team only-Phils, teammate of original Met Ashburn)

Pretty interesting that the 1907 issues and the 1912 issue have same design/artistry. Makes me want to go read that production story. Such great looking cards.
