Pigeon of war
Seated high atop a slender concrete support, a woman sits hugging her knees. The hem of her white dress spills down from her perch. As seen through the tilted wreckage of stone slabs, her face is bathed in light. As she faces a sun unseen, long shadows fall behind her, cast by the rebar protruding from the nearest facade. The surface is chipped, pitted and worn through to expose the rusted skeleton beneath once smoothly constructed stone. In the immediate foreground, a key hangs looped over a short outcrop of rebar.

Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus scavenges a dead pterosaur
A gloomy image of the elasmosaur Albertonectes foraging in the deep sea.
"Plesiosaurus" macrocephalus, a species known only from a famous but poorly studied juvenile specimen, and its possible parent: a mature rhomaelosaurid.
Elasmosaurid Thalassomedon surfaces to take a breath. This image shows what you may have actually seen from a boat while marine reptile watching, once we consider the physics of how plesiosaurs moved and floated.
All plesiosaurs today for #FossilFriday, in tribute to our departed friend Richard Forrest.

A shiny robot sits upon a stack of books. The ground beneath is rendered like the metal covered surface of the planet Trantor. Wearing a white cloak with hood up, the robot casually drapes one arm over a bent knee. In the other hand, it holds a bowl with a flicker of flame extending off it. Behind the robot stands Isaac Asimov with iconic mutton chops and glasses smiling for the audience. A mechanical keyboard is propped at his side. An inverted glass pyramid floats next to him. A spiral galaxy unwinds at an angle in the background sky. Notably that sky contains not just the dots of stars but the tiny swirls of other galaxies. Low in the sky, the corona of a star in total eclipse flares.
