There are republicans who are uneasy about certain cabinet nominees but don’t want to say anything in public. If you live in a red state, they might respond to pressure from constituents (eg, “Vought would shut down meals on wheels programs that rural communities rely on”)

Health Programs Shutter Around the World After Trump Pauses Foreign Aid (Gift Article) Lifesaving treatment and prevention programs for tuberculosis, malaria, H.I.V. and other diseases cannot access funds to continue work.

@USAID is enduring an unlawful shutdown, purge, and dismantling.

It’s thrown its vital work into turmoil—based on spurious, absurd, and willfully slanted attacks.

Here's what’s real: the massive and growing harm now being caused.

Delicious indeed. Thank you for saying what I've been feeling! And it's the MCWOACA who have run out of f*cks to give and therefore feel safe to speak up.

As a middle-class woman of a certain age, all I can say is: ‘Thank you, Gregg Wallace’ | Zoe Williams In trying to write his accusers off based on their age, sex and class, the TV presenter has made his disdain for people like me plain to see, writes Zoe Williams

Zoe Williams articulating exactly what I'm feeling; especially the fact that it's we MCWOFCA who usually have to clear up the aftermath. #greggwallace

We must end plastic pollution. At #INC5 we have reached the moment of truth for a #PlasticsTreaty.

People are demanding this deal.

Including Myles Kariuki from 🇰🇪 who wrote to me and INC Chair Luis Vayas to say 'please help us'.

Cop 29 live: call for $1.3tn in climate finance by 2035 in new draft text Text ‘decides’ on $250bn for developing countries by 2035 and calls for nations to make additional contributions

Panama's lead negotiator Juan Carlos Monterrey is *furious* with latest #COP29 texts

"The $250bn offered by [rich] countries is a spit on the face of vulnerable nations. They offer crumbs while we bear the dead. Outrageous, evil and remorseless."

Around two-thirds of Denmark's electricity generation comes from solar and wind.

It's mostly wind, but solar has grown quickly in the last three years.

When I was born, coal made up almost 90% of the mix. This is now less than 10%.

Another troll using wealthy lifestyles as an excuse to deny the science and claim it’s a grift. Reminds me of the man who accused me of taking my “private jet” to a COP meeting … one of only 3 I’ve ever attended, and to get there I flew EasyJet.

The climate and biodiversity crises are entwined, but we risk pitting one against the other In our race to cool the planet, we must not compromise the ecosystems on which we depend.

There are many ways in which the potential marriage of the goals tackling climate change and restoring biodiversity is a good thing. But also real dangers of an abusive relationship if biodiversity is subordinated to an overpowering drive for carbon sequestration and biofuels.
