Today, with the team, we played "Publish or perish" - this game is a lot of fun, highly recommended!
Announcing the 10th edition of the European Synapse Meeting in Leuven, October 21-23, 2026. Registration will open soon. Hope to see you all in Leuven this fall! All info: www.vibconferences.be/events/europ...
Great opportunity for a collaborative postdoc in proteomics between my lab (www.leibniz-fmp.de/haucke) and that of Fan Liu@FMP. Apply before 15 February 2026 to haucke@fmp-berlin.de or directly at: leibniz-fmp.softgarden.io/job/61958854...

So pretty when fused ❤️ Primary, hippocampal neuron (magenta) labelled with probe detecting fusing lysosomes!
Today, our animation synthesizing decades of research on actin-mediated endocytosis in budding yeast was published:

Excellent review! There is mounting evidence that results based solely on rapamycin and LC3 are insufficient to conclude that the observed changes are related to macroautophagy.
Congratulations!

Lysosomes are much more than 'garbage dump', they are metabolic hub with really cool functions! If you are interested in this topic but would not like to go to deep in the molecular pathways (which are cool as well!), I hope you may find this contribution useful!
The beauty of these images will never stop amazimg me. Hippocampal (CA1) neurons expressing an artificial cytoplasmic protein partially targeted to lysosomes (black dots).
Other thing is that I have reviewed recently a paper with RNA seq data and the file with the seq list was missing. While some journals do request it in the publication phase, I believe that the editors should not send such a manuscript to review. It is incomplete.
Oh, I am sorry to hear that, this is really wrong. I do not have such an experience but actually I have never tried (I so far requested data from collaborators only). Would be cool to be able to initiate official data request via a link on the journal website.
What journals they looked at?
Exciting week with calibration of the FLIM module!
Really cool story! Lysosomal surveillance response (LySR) is separate from mTOR-, AMPK-, and caloric restriction-related pathways as a potential key to longevity!
