This is a grandfathered opinion. In elden ring itself almost every boss is made harder by summoning because it makes the boss act unpredictable and the stat buff makes the fight take longer and be more punishing.

Code vein 2 has been excellent so far at really playing up the majesty of their vampires and how messed up and monsterous things are. Partially cause it dropped the lore of the first game entirely
