Interesting analysis from UoO, underscoring the importance of voting smart: "Labour has tended to under-perform in local elections because the Liberal Democrats and the Greens do better (and split the left vote)"

Banbury-based electric cargo bike manufacturer, EAV, is said to be βunder offerβ after entering administration. CEO Chris Temple said βthe unexpected withdrawal of a key financial commitment from our major shareholder due to investor fatigueβ sent the company into trouble βalmost overnightβ.
Very well put, @libdemdaisy.bsky.social π―
There is a reason why trust in politics has broken down.
We have a system that severely limits voter choice, while forcing politicians to argue instead of figuring out what they have in common.
Proportional Representation is the solution.

Cycling should be a symbol of freedom.
β But unsafe streets steal that from too many, especially women. Women ride half as much as men, often held back by fear.
This is about choice, equality, and safe streets for all.

Hi there! Yes, that's right the Conservative candidate in Hanborough & Hailey is the incumbent Liam Walker. Our predictions say a 16% swing to Lib Dem could unseat on May 1

"[I]n a democracy like ours, people don't determine a government: places do. It doesn't matter if you win a seat by seven votes or 70,000; get enough constituencies, and baby, you're in government. Younger people, by which I mean the under-45s, are stacked up in electorally useless cities... [N]obody cares about your vote. Sorry. It's a done deal." -Ash Sarkar, "Minority Rule"
"[A] political system where parties and politicians are incentivised to chase after a geographically dispersed cohort of homeowners, and can safely ignore tenants, benefits climants, students and people who live in densely populated urban constituencies isn't a good one. If politicians can write off millions of voters, we don't have democracy. " -Ash Sarkar, "Minority Rule"
"If politicians can write off millions of voters, we don't have democracy."
In her bestselling book "Minority Rule", Ash Sarkar points out the injustices at the heart of our political system which marginalises young people and other underrepresented groups.
Well put! π
The vote share of the two biggest parties has been falling steadily for decades.
Recent polling shows it could fall below 50%. And yet we still have a voting system designed to silence all other voices.
It's time for a system update. It's time for PR.
