That's really gross. Apparently it can be disabled and is related to Wayland (yet another reason to dislike Wayland, I suppose).
But after I had a test failure that I had to trace, I discovered something really toxic:

It injects that preload into EVERYTHING by default! So if you use an interposition library for testing, you're hosed.
