Academic life is truly something else. Yesterday, I told @vaaidj.bsky.social about a postdoc position without a scholarship.
He was like: "you would need to attend classes?"
And I answered: "nope, I would need to teach at least one full course"
And, shocked, he replied: "for free??"

I'm at the beach and... being a metalhead in Latin America in just something else... right now I'm listening to Zeca Pagodinho, and life seems the greatest ir has ever been in a long time.

Today, I'm being more tropical and not so goth - declined Katatonia's concert to go to the beach and no regrets at all.
Posted this over in the Other Place, but it's something I'm very passionate about and I feel it's sort of disappeared since the initial conversation about it a month or so ago - in October, a mummy portrait from Hawara went on sale at Frieze Masters in London, described as the 'Lost Mona Lisa'...
