Dodgers Roster Projection 2.0: Finding the battles in a settled camp Like just about everything in Dodgers camp, there is little suspense. Much of the roster is already settled.

Projecting out the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster — including spring standout Santiago Espinal: www.nytimes.com/athletic/709...

Dave Roberts suggested it’s hard to see a scenario where Santiago Espinal doesn’t open the season in the majors with the Dodgers. Said he has fit in “seamlessly” with the group.

Emmet Sheehan is listed on the card of pitchers today behind Tyler Glasnow. Would be his first time in a game this spring after an illness slowed him down earlier in camp.

Dodgers downplay pitching concerns about Roki Sasaki, who continues struggles this spring Sasaki remains one of the most tantalizing young talents, but he can’t seem to figure himself out again, though Dave Roberts is unconcerned.

“I don’t think there are concerns," Dave Roberts said after yet another shaky Roki Sasaki spring start. "There just has to be continued progression."

Dave Roberts on the odds Roki Sasaki shifts out of the big league rotation picture: "I think it can change, but I don't think it's going to change before we break (camp). I think that, keep building him up. We see him as a starter and giving him every opportunity for success."

Bobby Miller just threw off a mound for the first time this spring. Just about 10 throws, not off the rubber, to a standing catcher. Not a full bullpen by any means. Has been dealing with shoulder trouble — Dodgers viewing him as a reliever.

Kyle Tucker has been away from Dodgers camp as he and his wife anticipate the birth of their first child.

Also, Kiké Hernández (who has been rehabbing at CBR) will head to be around team Puerto Rico for the WBC in coming days. Has already dyed his hair for the occasion.

Dave Roberts said Gavin Stone got a scan on his right shoulder, which showed inflammation but not structural damage. “We dodged a bullet,” Roberts said. Stone will be no-throw for a couple weeks.

The Dodgers reassigned the following players to minor league camp: pitchers Patrick Copen, Luke Fox, Jerming Rosario, Adam Serwinowski, Nick Frasso and Jose Rodriguez, catchers Nelson Quiroz and Chuckie Robinson, infielders Keston Hiura and Matt Gorski and outfielder Chris Newell

Freddie Freeman wants to keep playing — all 162 games in 2026, and beyond The Dodgers want to give Freeman more days off with an eye toward keeping him fresh for October. But will he push back?

Freddie Freeman hinted at the finish line. He floated the idea of playing until he's 40. But really, he talked about trying to keep going – and wanting to do so as a Dodger even beyond his current deal: www.nytimes.com/athletic/705...

Freddie Freeman again today "floated" the idea of playing four more years, which would lead him to retire at age 40 after 20 big league seasons. Didn't want to openly campaign for another contract (he's signed through 2027) but added he would like for it to come in Los Angeles.

Dodgers are bringing back Yency Almonte on a minor league deal, per source. The reliever battled shoulder trouble after the Dodgers sent him to the Cubs along with Michael Busch. Hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2024.

Will Smith, the Dodgers' MLBPA rep, said yesterday Tony Clark's resignation was "obviously surprising" and "probably not the best timing." Today, Smith said Dodgers met this morning. PA still sorting out plans going forward.

"Make the right (decision). That's all that matters."

Shohei Ohtani will likely DH the Dodgers’ first two Cactus League games, Dave Roberts said. Current plan is for Yoshinobu Yamamoto to pitch one of those two games.

Brusdar Graterol won’t be ready to start the season, Dave Roberts said. Not much of a surprise at this point. The velocity ticked up last time he threw off a mound, but the Dodgers will continue to take things slow with him.

Teoscar Hernández — trim, not traded — looks for bounce-back year with Dodgers The team says it will move him back to left field, where he spent most of 2024.

Teoscar Hernández can admit now he was never fully healthy after his groin injury last season. He got into better shape this spring, hoping to rebound after a down season that led the Dodgers to listen on him in trade talks this past winter: www.nytimes.com/athletic/705...
