Germany (and the EU in other statements) is effectively saying that international law does not apply to the US and Israel, and that it fully backs their actions in the region.
There's no demand that the US reverse the block on aid to Ukraine, no ask for de-escalation on Greenland, just war war war

I have one hundred thousand thoughts on all of this.
My top line drum bangs are:
- game cultural ecosystems need patronage from the places money has pooled
- we need to shout & celebrate the long term impacts of grass roots game culture. They are hugely ignored by both โindustryโ & arts orgs
A fabricated statement from Nintendo of America's Twitter account addressing a fictitious scenario in which the Earth's oxygen supply is presumed to be depleting at a rapid pace, leaving humanity with mere days to live. "This is Miyamoto. On behalf of everyone who is employed at Nintendo Co. LTD and its subsidiaries, we deeply mourn the countless human lives which will be lost due to the depletion of the global oxygen supply. To anyone who has ever played one of our games, we are eternally grateful to have created long-lasting fun and memories for you. To ease the suffering of families and children across the world, the Mario Kart World game for the Nintendo Switch 2 system will be available as a free download on Nintendo eShop for the foreseeable future. We hope this small gesture of kindness will ease the pain as humanity prepares for a worst-case scenario." The statement is distastefully plastered with logos for Nintendo and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as with a render of Mario from Mario Kart World.
A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement. John Default Profile Picture: "No one read this statement and thought it was distasteful? Why did Miyamoto think this would help anyone?" NintenDeen: "Simple: Nintendo is so depraved that they'd exploit a global crisis to boost the player count of the failed Mario Kart World and force consumers back into the Switch 2 ecosystem to boost sales and player numbers."
A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement. PlayStation Nation: "What the fuck are you doing falsely advertising sales during these trying times? I went to the website and Mario Kart World is still selling for $80 USD." Kremling Kevin: "If you actually read the statement, it clearly says the discount is available on Nintendo eShop. Meaning the application on the Switch 2 itself, not the web browser version." PlayStation Nation: "Point still stands."
A fabricated Tweet responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement. Isaboner: "Nothing for Switch 1 owners?"
Had a dream that there was global panic about the world running out of oxygen, Nintendo was the only video game company to make a statement about it, and the internet collectively spent its final hours on Earth debating whether Nintendo was being genuine or not

Speaking of Gamestorm, I'm also part of the non-profit now. The big news for 2026 is that we're rebooting as a collective, offering our infrastructure and the decades of experience running initiatives to support both existing and new projects.
Check the site for details: gamestormcollective.org
First time we're getting public funding for Talk & Play! Wouldn't have happened without:
1๏ธโฃ Melanie Fussenegger who took care of the funding application
2๏ธโฃ @gamestormberlin.bsky.social for providing the legal infrastructure
3๏ธโฃ @happybroccoligames.bsky.social for the generous sponsorship

please don't rob yourself from the time to create things. and become little vaults of art at home. keep the dvds, buy books, save those pdfs, download the flacs, get drm-free versions of everything. reject the tool that saves you from thinking. any industry or market can fall, humanity should not.
A kind reminder that just about all larger women in games organizations are shite and and often ran by clout chasers or worse
You'd be best served supporting your local initiatives

Generative AI is not just the instrument and aesthetics of fascism, but it has permanently sewn itself to fascism in a fucked up human centipede of scammers and grifters and guys who've long ago forgotten how to think.
Are we going to do a rotating tetrahedron tomorrow? Most likely not (takes too long) but I can show you mine ๐ www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfTw...

Really sad to hear today that Freeplay Independent Games Festival is likely coming to the end of its adventure in 2026 after 22 incredible years. Freeplay has been pivotal to my own career and I have some complex, straight out contradictory feelings about the announcement I wanna try to articulate.
Why not both?

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't. By magicmosshka, yesterday's
the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs

As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back
You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative
