Sometimes - tho I find it’s those moments of clarity, or when threads come together, in revision that really excite me.
Sometimes you get a rejection that’s so warm and encouraging that you feel like popping some champagne!
A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

With kidlit (PB), I always start at the beginning. But hmm…I may try starting at the end and working backwards.
Was excited to query a manuscript. Reread everything before hitting send. Found a couple holes, so I’m back to revisions.
Sometimes the query process puts your work into a new light and brings it into focus.

I agree. I find that writing pitches help me find the essence or the true story within the story. And if I struggle, it means I don’t have the story well thought out.

I said goodbye to my sweet cat today and came home to a rejection from an editor. I’ve had better days. Still - life goes on. Dusting myself off. Tomorrow is another day.
