Just 15 years ago, Trump & the Mercers (who enabled Trump's 1st presidential run) waged an Islamophobic campaign against approving an Islamic cultural center in the Lower East Side. They got 61% of NYC residents to agree with them. These people can be beaten.
We will never be able to compete in terms of having capitalist allies or income-generating scams to spread our message, but we can at least compete on this.
Our right-wing opponents have all of those. Yes, their version is bullshit and that's exactly what we need to attack and provide alternatives to.
The public health community thinks our task is building trust & fighting disinformation. But the former's an outcome, not a task; the latter is woefully inadequate.
What we need: a positive vision, a critique of power, and an ethics.

And to be clear, I don't advocate the idea of a granola-to-fascist pipeline. Granola is already fascist! Its inventor (one of the Kellogg brothers) promoted granola as a way to achieve bodily, and therefore moral, purity, and went on to found the eugenicist Race Betterment Foundation.

It's funny to see people praise Harvard for its supposedly principled opposition to Trump. The university already ended academic freedom. They're only fighting back because it's clear the White House will try to block their funding regardless of how far they go.
Not trying to be an edgelord or claim "the Dems are the same". But it's important to understand Trump's about creating spectacles to spread fear among enemies & fulfill the revanchist fantasies of supporters. Actually administering the bureaucracy of state violence is secondary.
