We also need to know whether AI was used to select the target. WaPo is reporting Anthropic and Palantir tech were used to identify 1000 targets in Iran 24 hours. Who vetted those targets? Who pays for errors? It's possible they weren't involved in this strike but this we need to know.

Affordable homes, climate investments, and good jobs don't have to be pitted against each other. In fact, in NYC @mayor.nyc.gov has a a huge opportunity to advance all three together, and local examples to build off.

Zohran Mamdani Wants to Build Housing. He Should Build Green.
After his White House meeting last week, Zohran Mamdani has a tentative plan to build 12,000 units of affordable housing in Queens. Itβs a chance to tackle the climate and affordability crises simulta...
A massive social housing investment in Queens could create modern green homes for the working class, spark green careers across construction sectors, and build resilient green energy networks to support the community. A triple win for housing, labor, & innovation.

Sounds a lot like the Green New Deal, with its focus on creating temples of public luxury, and prioritizing social services and care along with stronger labor protections and shorter work weeks, and ofc massive green investments in energy and infrastructure.

Obvious point but worth repeating- many Iranians hate Khamenei, but that doesnβt make them supporters of Israeli genocide & apartheid in Palestine. Netanyahu wonβt accept a democratic * powerful Iran. His goal isnβt to liberate Iran, but destroy as much of its power as possible.

The hidden ICE blueprint that should horrify every American | Will Bunch
An internal Department of Homeland Security document shows how ICE plans to cram thousands of detained human beings inside a Georgia warehouse.
What's more shocking than ICE's plan to cram as many 8,500 humans into massive, soul-crushing warehouses?
Seeing the actual DHS floor plan that echoes slavery ships and history's worst gulags with no rec space but a gun range for guards

This is the other crucial chart, capturing inequality in carbon footprints (*including carbon caused by investment holdings*). Once a story of global colonial inequality, unequal carbon pollution is now overwhelmingly a story of class inequality all over the world. This is universal class struggle.

There people on the left and right who will tell you this is only an issue for elites. Those people are insane. The obscenely unequal power of the rich is what caused this emergency. Iβll never cede βpreventing mass deathβ as a cause of the mass left.

In the 1920s & 30s, Vienna taxed luxuries like champagne to fund social housing. Today we should tax luxuries like yachts to fund climate safety for all. Working people need green infrastructure, they build rich ppl's wealth, that money should benefit workers' communities.

Yachts are rich people's carbon bombs. Yachts are a policy failure. We should put a 100% luxury tax on yachts, and put the money into green infrastructure that cuts carbon pollution and protects coastal communities from floods.

Big Tech Says Generative AI Will Save the Planet. It Doesn't Offer Much Proof
A new report finds that of 154 specific claims about how AI will benefit the climate, just a quarter cited academic research. A third included no evidence at all.
when big tech companies say that AI will save the planet, what kinds of AI are they actually talking about βΒ and what's their proof? i took a look at some great new research from @ketanjoshi.co and talked to other experts about how a lot of this talk is probably bullshit:

Trump Is Strong-Arming the World Out of Climate Action
Washington is leveraging its power to intimidate countries that are trying to protect the planet.
The US has become a climate bully.
The sabotage of the IMO shipping levy is the most dramatic example. The pressure on Vanuatu to stop its legal efforts is the most recent.

Yeah, I wonder about the options to invest in trying to decrease wait times, and maybe even cut fares (never mind free)... you have to start with populist impacts, and work backwards.
To be fair and clear, the IRA was MANCHIN's policy, not Biden's. BBB was Biden's plan, it was smarter, holistic

Right... and IRA made a minimal impression on US electorate, automakers are now pivoting their strategies dramatically, and climate has fallen off the political map.
Maybe the admin did best they could, maybe not. My point is that green=luxury is not inevitable.
