Someone on here yesterday pointed out that you can tell they didnβt see any of this coming because they would have done insider trades on the oil futures market if they had.

Fancy Italian sandwiches are not a fad. They are a lifestyle.
Worked at a engineering firm, and 1 year on International Womenβs Day the old grumpy conservative Bulgarian guy sent a company-wide email saying:
βHappy IWD! In Socialist Bulgaria, this was one of the most important days in the calendar. Everyone celebrated the positive contributions of womenβ

After the βCanada is the 51st stateβ remarks. We should not be feeling any sense of security right now. We are the Austria of 2026.
My hottest mental health take:
A lot of depression and anxiety is situational, and warranted, because people live in shit circumstances. Theyβre poor, without resources, etc. and the reason itβs become popular to blame βmental healthβ is because itβs a way of evading responsibility.
Letβs do this Happy Hour twice!
If we want to improve at this then we need to be less insular and start looking abroad and working with other transit agencies outside the anglosphere because a lot of countries are doing it better than us and we always seem to bring in people from the UK, who are having the same problems as we are.
Weβre also a very inexperienced transit building jurisdiction. The TTC had a lot of expertise in building transit but when that was taken over by the Province that institutional knowledge evaporated so weβve been left with using consultants who generally donβt even really know how.
Weβve actually gone to pretty huge extents to privatize what we can and itβs largely the reason our transit systems are getting worse. P3s are abundant in this province. They get bogged down by contractual disputes and contractors cut corners to make up losses. Itβs a disaster of a system.
Look, our transit system is not perfect, but in what world would privatizing them make any difference? Public transit operates at a huge loss and if you increased fares to be profitable then youβd lose your ridership because youβd be charging $15 a ride.
This doesnβt even argue how it would help to privatize transit. His only point is that in Hong Kong 25% of the MTR is publicly traded and that they drive trains in London and Australia, which is not even privatization. The GO system operations are also contracted out which defeats his whole point.
Ah yes, nothing the private sector loves more than operating services at a huge loss
They make some really good flours now for gf pizza if youβre into making your own dough. Caputo is the ubiquitous one but there are others just as good. Alimentari on Roncesvalles sells a brand thatβs good.
La Veneziane makes some really good Fettuce. Recommend that if you ever see it. My wife has been GF for 20 years and Iβve been cooking for her for 14 of those. I got the good recommendations if you need them.

I did a similar trek in 2017. By Granada we were pretty run down so we went to these Arab baths and they were probably the highlight of the trip. Just stunning architecture and warm water.

Spanish PM Pedro SΓ‘nchez:
You may have heard that Spain is alone. Theyβre the same people who said that when we recognized the State of Palestine, and then others followed.
We are not alone β we are the first. Those who will end up alone are the ones defending the indefensible.
Man, these reputation washing opinion pieces from journalists that clearly know him personally really shines a light on why he made a lot of the decisions he made as mayor. Someone from the Toronto establishment always had his ear.
This makes sense now

Wow I wonder where she found the crystal ball to hear his campaign platform. Canβt believe she predicted the fascist would do all the bad stuff he said he was going to do.
Weird. Majority of what I read is non-fiction
We ended up with John Tory last time we were afraid of another Mayor Ford and it was, predictably, the same austerity, only polite.
For the love of Toronto, can we PLEASE have some REAL, imaginative challengers and a REAL election about issues and making this a decent place for people to live? πππ
I think Leviβs 501s are like $80 now. That is generally the benchmark for how much you should be spending on jeans.
Sorry, but did anyone else catch the part where he said theyβre continuing their relationship?!?!
He was the leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives for a minute. He was literally the top Tory in the Province.
But also, what is this about him still having a relationship with the woman?

This isnβt a uniquely American problem. This is the entire theory behind neoliberalism. Make life hard so people canβt create community so that theyβre easy to exploit for monetary gain. They call it βcompetitionβ.
Turkey and Brazil are easy to see (ie. Erdogan, Bolsonaro). But Greece is interesting. Iβm even pretty surprised by France
Remind me: when you bomb an elementary school, lure the survivors into a false sense of safety, and then bomb the survivors, leaving behind dozens and dozens of dead school children... are you the good guys?
