A photo of a hardcover book: "Rake's Progress: The Gay -- And Dramatic -- Adventures of Major Denis Rake, MC, the Reluctant British War-Time Agent." By Denis Rake, with a foreward by Douglas Fairbanks, KBE, DSC. The cover is a stylized cartoon of a natty looking guy with a bowler hat, an umbrella, a corsage, and a cigarette in a holder, parachuting down with a parachute that looks like an army helmet.
My point is this: I would like a historical novel about Denis. Or a movie.
He wrote a memoir called "Rake's Progress: The Gay -- And Dramatic -- Adventures of Major Denis Rake, MC, the Reluctant British War-Time Agent."

This is fantastic Mike and AilΓn, have pre-ordered now, can't wait to read it. We really need more irish resources on neurodivergence, and this will be a lovely accompaniment to Wired our Own Way. #NΓ©araΓagsΓΊil

You have these rules we're all supposed to follow, but some special countries (white ones) don't have to follow those rules, and nobody can say out loud why those countries are exempt (racism) and what the loopholes are based on (skin colour)

Playing Dead Island 2, and the voice acting of the Irish Dani by Michelle Fox is an absolute treat, and a lot of the Hiberno-English is so good too.
Dani just called someone a shitehawk!
So question: was that word around before Podge & Rodge?
I feel like that's where I became aware of it.

I have no interest in policing other people's personal health choices in any way. If you're taking a GLP-1 and happy with it, then I'm happy.
But we're never going to be a country without fat people β or the need to treat each other with grace and humanity regardless of size.

Conservative and reactionary centrist media is trying to set up a narrative in which GLP-1s are some kind of existential threat to body positivity and fat activism.
It's bullshit. If you want to lose weight, go for it. But not everyone can or wants to β and they deserve equal treatment regardless.

Two great ones there. Megan Neffs burnout book is great too. I think "looking after your autistic self" @niamhgarvey.bsky.social is lovely. She's an autistic nurse, and gives reflections and tips from best practice, evidence base, and her own personal experience. It's personal but also practical

Absolutely Chandra, there is a demonstrated link with histamine, and something to be mindful of for lady ADHDers of a certain age when 1. oestrogen drops impacting executive functioning, and 2, where histamine can go haywire, having various negative effects!

I hope we will see a change in increased health professional knowledge (hi, i'm available to provide training!), but also a broader, more accessible primary public care model, as has been suggested.

I think the best thing we could do for (un)diagnosed ADHDers is to improve awareness of health professionals. GPs frequently play a gatekeeper role in access to specialist services for diagnosis and treatment. Studies show their lack of knowledge can create barriers to care.

10.b. Just generally, you can sign up for ADHD Ireland Eventbrite to find out what events they have running. Its a ton. @asiamireland.bsky.social and @thrivingautistic.bsky.social also have various events for newly diagnosed/long standing diagnosis, of course. Again, eventbrite probably the best way

8. Unmasking. How does it help with attention and focus? As above, not using fidgets to conceal difficulties, but may be at the cost of actually paying attention. Appearing organised but spending huge amount of time and energy to do so, possibly to prevent comments about being late.

7.c. And one example that works for people is having different length Spotify playlists for tasks. So for example, if you struggle with cleaning the kitchen or folding laundry, put on a 15 min high energy playlist, and do what you can in that time. When its over, you can stop.
