Half WarGreymon, half MetalGarurumon! Today marks the anniversary of Digimon: the Movie, so here is a little homage to it! Like for many others, the story that defined our childhoods 👾⚔️

The earliest version of my Great Fox build. Veeery basic but I think this was me building it from memory - aside from all the windows.
An updated version. Made the wings wider and improved the silhouette, but got dangerously close to the 100 parts complexity limit - not helped by windows and internal decorations counting towards and often going well over the limit, forcing me to delete everything inside AND all the windows if I wanted to make any adjustments - an issue which Hello Games have thankfully resolved.
A more recent version of the build, improving on the previous version but still quite blocky towards the front. I think there were around 92 or 94 parts here.
The latest build. I shortened the length of the ship in turn sacrificing some internal space. Also added some of the newer wedge parts to give the hull a more detailed look. Now with 87 parts down from the previous 92 or 94.
It's been a long road
Top deck of the ship - basically a long corridor leading out to the rear landing bay.
A pair of engine rooms in front of the port and starboard thrusters. I don't uses these Refiner Units much but they do help complate the look!
A mission briefing room, with colour-coded chairs representing the Star Fox team members. I've also arranged them in the same layout as the face buttons of the Super Famicom and PAL Super Nintendo controller.
A bedroom with colour coded lockers. I once had colour coded beds too, but as of the Remnants update on Switch 2 they've been stuck as the default white for some reason.

Great Fox rejoining my fleet, with its namesake freighter nearby. Said freighter is a Galleon-class System Freighter, which I got thanks to some coordinates someone posted - and the closest I could get to the Star Fox mothership pre-Voyagers update.

"Let's rock and roll!" One of the the 'Arwings' is red instead of blue, as it turns out you can't have more than three of the same ship in your squadron. I settled on a red one as a nod to the red/orange Arwings in Star Fox 2.

My Great Fox inspired Corvette ship in No Man's Sky - built with 87 parts - alongside my frabricated Arwing-esque starfighter (Needle Nose cockpit/fuselage, Mono Thruster, and Hardframe S-Wings)

"It's time for us to go now." Great Fox flying into the sunset with a full squadron of Arwing-esque fighters as a nod to the ending of Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars. This screenshot was posted by Sean Murray on the NMS Twitter account, which genuinely made my day.
Made some improvements to my Great Fox Corvette in NMS, and even managed to reduce the parts count.

Not sure what's crazier: the idea that anyone would approve the construction of this highly volatile, 18km long power plant, or the game developers deciding that 40 seconds was enough time to escape before it blows up.

NOSE - While the original design of the head is variable in its design (especially around the faceplate, which could either have a flat top or a jagged top), a good amount of the illustrations show that the red section under the eyes was intended to be in the shape of a nose and upper cheeks. This is similar to other giant robots of the era, like Mazinger Z or Zambot 3. VENTS - Some depictions of the RX-78-2 have extruded yellow frames around the chest vents instead of vents directly inset in the chest. While this is a design trait that the later RX-178 Gundam Mk-II has featured since its first appearance, the RX-78-2 wouldn't be depicted with them until its first Master Grade model kit in 1995. Now, this look is part of the variable design "canon", and appears on some iterations of the RX-78-2 like the Ver. Ka or the Gundam: The Origin design. YELLOW V-FIN/ANTENNA - The RX-78-2 is occasionally depicted with the crest on its head in yellow instead of white, especially in early merchandise of the show. This may have been because early giant robot toys used softer, rubbery material for pointy design elements, and that material only came in a yellow color. On the RX-78-2, this yellow coloration is also used in the Gundam: The Origin manga, alongside a green camera at the top of the head and eyes that often glow pink. (alt text continued in next post)

I really love the classic look of the Gundam, so I wanted to understand all its differences compared to the modern interpretation of the RX-78-2. And there's no better way to learn something well than to teach others!

Got the "M" on both sides by making a decal like this, and using the Gladius arms (note the yellow highlighted area in the third screenshot - this is on both the front and back of the shoulder)
My Megazord / Daizyujin cosplay build is now complete - at least until the DLC drops
