Clearly a sophisticated reference to Pirnerβs lengthy sojourn in New Orleans
I love this for them
(Sometimes I do wonder how much theyβre trolling us π)
The two men hit it off right away, and as they walked drunkenly through the deserted streets of Osaka at 4:30 in the morning, Reitzell decided to ask Shields if he might be interested in contributing to a film score, if ever he found a suitable project. βSure,β Shields replied. His only prior experience with film music had been a $5,000 payday heβd shared with J Mascis to demo a version of the Mission Impossible 2 theme song. (In another win for mainstream American culture, Limp Bizkit got the gig instead.) Reitzell knew of Shieldsβs recent difficulties with Island and his inability to finish new solo work in the studio, but he seemed undeterred.

Somewhere thereβs a recording of Kevin Shields and J Mascis doing the βMission: Impossibleβ theme
I canβt emphasize enough how quickly this was under control. They did an amazing job.

The Minnesota Star Tribune editorial page, with a news photo of protesters in Chicago illustrating a featured letter to the editor regarding debate in Minnesota on a national issue
Seems odd to use a photo of protestors in Illinois
Northeastβs hottest club is 4 semis on fire at a train yard
For the morning crowd
Black and white photo of Alexander Calder, an older Ma with white hair, and his wife and two daughters all sitting in a row on a park bench, staring unsmilingly at the camera. The women all have their arms crossed. By the way theyβre dressed, it looks like fall.
Another great one from around the same time as the masked kids one β portrait of Alexander Calder and his family in Paris, 1954
Minneapolis Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Fire March 7, 2026 (Minneapolis) β At approximately 12:15 a.m. this morning, the Minneapolis Fire Department (MFD) responded to the report of a structure fire and explosions coming from a railyard at the intersection of 29th Avenue Northeast and Central Avenue Northeast. Arriving firefighters found six semi-tractors fully engulfed in flames in a parking lot. Fire crews laid lines and worked to ensure that the fires didnβt spread to nearby trailers, rail cars, or other structures. The railroad company confirmed that there were no hazardous materials present in that area of the parking and Xcel Energy was contacted to shut down a nearby electrical line exposed to the fire. The fire was brought under control after about 20 minutes. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The MFD report number for this incident is 26-0011160. # # #

The perfect, cursed GIF.
I get it! (Sort of)
Definitely. The last time I was in NYC I caught a pretty big Arbus gallery show and they had a book for sale that tempted me β¦ almost a day by day history of her life.
Pretty sure the other time this happened we got both daysβ papers the next day. What did they do with all the Friday papers?
I like hits!
finally got the chance to finish this piece and itβs really good. as she talked of apolitical architectural playgrounds, the sepia-toned rockwellian vision of america, and the freedom of the resort I immediately thought of new urbanism. sure enough thatβs when she briefly alludes to seaside, florida
Mayo logs best-ever $1.47B in earnings
Cheese logs, fine. Mayo logs are just gross. I donβt care how much they earn.
Rolled up Saturday newspaper in its delivery bag
Okay just one newspaper today. So weβre just memory-holing that while no-newspapers-in-Minnesota-on-Friday thing?
I must have read 40 of the Three Investigators books. Some were duds, but a lot were really pretty well written.
