I'm fortunate I got to board a fun stylized music-driven sequence under Alex Kirwan's direction, after we worked well together on the Witch Hazel cartoon for the shorts years ago. My drawings are so scribbly, I think I roughed it out in barely 2-3 days if I recall, no cleanup. But man, what a blast.
There were a lot of influences I looked at and felt inspired by before diving into the sequence. Bubsy Berkeley scenes, Oskar Fischinger, Boris Artzybasheff, sequences from Fantasia/Make Mine Music/Melody Time, Dumbo, Cinderella, Modern Times... lot of homages and little references here and there.
I wish I had more time to make my boards polished & pretty, but I guess there was enough information there to work off of, including Stephen DeStefano on designs, Joshua Moshier's incredible score & the amazing animators up at TonicDNA. They took my thumbnails and made a stunning sequence out of it!
I saw the new Looney Tunes movie tonight and I was blown away! A beautiful, hilarious work of art made by many talented people at their absolute best. Had to bust out the pen and paper because I was so inspired. Go see this movie if you love fun!

For me as someone who’s worked in development at a major studio it can be so frustrating how there are such obvious (IMO) choices from the IP library to focus on and there are so many frustrating things that get in the way so I deeply feel that here lol

I completely agree with you. Part of me still feels like well at least the Moana sequel still gets to exist whereas Tiana doesn’t see the light of day as a series or feature, flaws and all (there’s still a special). Part of my disappointment is exactly what you said about Tiana not being a strong..
