Also they are TERRIFIED of wild animals that are the size of a wild pig or bigger, even the adults are shown to be frightened of the idea of encountering a wild animal, this is why we dont see them much—they are cast out of public spaces for safety/out of fear.

in peppa pig aquatic animals and sea life arent the same btw bigger aquatic animals like crocodiles do have both wild and anthro counterparts
(To clear up, theres anthro crocodiles and hippos the same way theres wild dogs sheep pigs cats mice etc etc)

...yet they eat fish, like a lot, so that brings a lot of questions about their morality. They dont eat a wild animal because it'd be like eating a replica of your neighbor but smaller, even if they arent sentient, so theyd rather eat fully self aware beings because they dont resemble them

Fish and insects are a subcategory of wild animals. Normal wild animals have the sentience and self awareness of irl animals, but sea life and insects are as self aware and capable of understanding english and displaying emotions as anthro animals.
