i think fandom would do well to bring back the concept of "a reading" which is different from "a headcanon". a headcanon can be anything and is total fun. a reading works with the text to come up with particular interpretations of the work, its characters, etc.
there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

ffxiv is a Great cautionary tale about this tbh. as a writer i am glad to have such a clear reference of what Not to do
many games also do, and im not claiming moral superiority because i no longer play it. but i am morbidly impressed by how the game achieves feats of racism yet undiscovered by mankind on a consistent, regular schedule. which is what happens when you build a fantasy world with obvious irl analogues
