Some extras from the mini photoshoot I was doing with my models this morning. Go check out my other posts about each individual model! Thought it was about time I properly showed them off before I start revamping my modelling style.
Here’s Percy! Another favourite of mine. I started him at the same time as Edward back in 2023. He was kept very simple for a long time with little detail. In mid to late 2024 I started revamping a lot of my models and Percy gained new details and heavy weathering.
Gordon was made from a regular Hornby Flying Scotsman with a Hornby Gordon tender. He doesn’t run atm cause he’s tender driven so I'll have to get him a new motor. I’m also still undecided whether or not to add lining to him cause I quite like the simplistic look.
Henry I started work on in late 2023 using a Hornby Black 5 as a base. His first coat of green dried unequally meaning I had to sand down the entire model and start again. I took his livery from a real life black 5, where the running board’s colour matches the rest of the body.
Next up is Edward, old reliable, who as with most of these models I started a long time ago. I began work on him in 2023 and used a Hornby D16 as a base, I like its proportions and felt it a good fit for Edward at the time. Since then he’s gone through various colour changes.
Starting things off with my most recent model, Thomas! I started work on this model around December of last year specifically for a video I was working on at the time called “Winds Of Change”. I wanted him to look really scrubby and beaten up so Im pretty happy with how he looks!

what happened yesterday was pretty upsetting.
i don’t really care about my account being gone — but messing with magic railroad, a project that’s so personal to me, is crossing a line.
the project is still happening, and i hope we get the account back — because there is a LOT to talk about. ❤️
Finally just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who made this possible, I couldn't have done it with you all. I'm so happy to finally have this out there and for all to enjoy. Another huge thanks to those who enjoy and follow my work, its always appreciated.

I started off with a simple set and then began adding extra details within the cameras frame. I got asked what I used in terms of lighting. So the lighting in the video is actually the raw camera footage, no post work. I achieved it by using my living room light and bedroom lamp.
MAKING OF EDWARD
Edward is a model I never felt happy with when I made him back in 2023. In December of 2024 I repainted him to match Thomas’ new colour scheme. Edward also gained new screwlink couplings. Once both models were complete it was time to work on the set.
MAKING OF THOMAS
For this video I wanted Thomas to look really bashed up and broken. So I found an old model and repainted it. I used a simple silver pen for the scratches. I then did a few test shots on an old set and realised Thomas wasn’t the only one in need of a tune up.
I revisited the idea in early November of 2024 and set about working on the script with my good friends
@isaiahoo9234.bsky.social and @shuntingyardjoe.bsky.social. We wrote out a few different ideas and eventually settled on the idea to focus only on Thomas' accident.
So the original idea dates back all the way to December of 2023 when I was filming "A Ffarquhar Christmas". This initial version was a completely different story, which consisted of Henry also being involved in an accident. I never did anything with it after filming a few scenes.
