Duggan and Hall are birds of a feather, and they're both lying. They both accused Democratic legislators of refusing to pass an education budget unless they could also pass a bill allowing trans kids to compete in sports. This never happened.

To gay and trans Michiganders, Gov. Whitmer promises that she will always defend them and pledges to veto any anti-LGBTQ+ legislation that comes across her desk.
Gov. Whitmer also highlights the CROWN Act, which prohibits discrimination based on hairstyles, and the expansion of the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act to include LGBTQ+ folks, as well as several common sense, evidence-backed gun violence prevention reforms.

Since 2019, Michigan has grown stronger. Lawmakers have repealed the retirement tax and expanded the Working Families Tax Credit. They've made critical updates to water infrastructure and roads and bridges, and helped expand clean energy.
Federal cuts put 2.5 million Michiganders at risk of losing their healthcare coverage. Last year's budget helped preserve critical funding, but this year's budget can do even better.
Last year, the Whitmer administration helped wipe out medical debt for 200k+ people. She outlines several steps to continue that work and keep medical debt from destroying people's lives.
Cuts to Medicaid and ACA subsidies don't only affect Medicaid patients and people who bought health insurance in the ACA marketplace. These cuts weaken the entire medical system and drive up prices for everyone.
Now, Gov. Whitmer is addressing a major elephant in the room: the fact that Congress has cut Medicaid and food assistance and allowed ACA subsidies to expire. She calls on members of Congress to do better and provide relief to people who need it.
"We can't change national tariffs. Trust me, I've tried. But we can build more affordable new housing." During Whitmer's two terms, tens of thousands of new homes have been built. She wants to build on that progress by building more and connecting people to the support they need.
Next topic: housing. Gov. Whitmer bought her first house at age 28, something many young people today simply can't do. We need solutions from our lawmakers to make housing more affordable, so that more young people can plant roots here.
Teachers work hard and want their students to succeed. Lawmakers need to support them in using the most strategic, effective, and evidence-backed approaches to teaching kids how to read.
Now, she moves on to this year's budget. The executive budget Whitmer has suggested includes a plan called "Every Kid Reads," meant to bolster reading instruction in early childhood.
Each year since Gov. Whitmer took office, she and #mileg have taken investment in public schools to new heights. They've also passed legislation to help standardize how reading is taught across the state. Those standards include phonics, an approach that's proven to be effective.
Literacy is incredibly important and helps prepare students to navigate adulthood. But kids in Michigan and across the US are struggling right now. Whoever becomes governor next, they will have to keep working on the issue.
Gov. Whitmer lays out two key priorities: supporting kids' education and putting more money in working people's pockets.
Times are tough, and people are justifiably worried about the national economy, but we've still got work to do to keep Michigan's economy growing and strong.
She highlights some strong signs that things in Michigan are getting better, then transitions to talking about the ongoing cost of living crisis. Tariffs are driving up costs, and working Michiganders are struggling to make ends meet.
