Read the always-smart analysis of Christian nationalism expert Sarah Posner.
I don't know anything. Sounds unlikely and conspiratorial.
Post See new posts Conversation Laura Rozen @lrozen Β· 2h From US admin official background briefing recording listening to, seriously question if US negotiators understood what Iranians were proposing. One official keeps saying acronym for βIAEAβ wrong. They seem astonished Iran would not agree to the US supplying them nuclear fuel Laura Rozen @lrozen Β· 2h They took as suspicious proposals that Iran saw as concessionary. Laura Rozen @lrozen Β· 2h Explains why Oman FM tried to come to DC to explain what US negotiators may not have fully understood Laura Rozen @lrozen Am not saying what Iran proposed would have been enough, I dont know, but it seems US negotiators did not have the expert guidance to understand it correctly
On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.
OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.
This made me happy.
Yes.
Ori is always good and smart
Israel doesn't have the capability to pursue a long war with Iran and the Trump isn't interested, so this will probably end in a few days. Strong analysis from Ori Goldberg for @newlinesmag.bsky.social newlinesmag.com/running-note...
That really sucks.
Three days ago we published this very insightful piece by Menahem Merhavy, who explains that Iran is not on the brink of revolution because the necessary circumstances are not in place. This war will not bring down the regime. newlinesmag.com/argument/ira...
I wish I had been in London for this.
Look for large segments of the American news media, thirsty for war news, to instantly forget that the Trump regime lies to the public all the time.
for the last time, when the government becomes the customer, the vendor, and the regulator, and pumps the product into public space, it's not a regular super monopoly and i am not being a dick about communism. that is literally where i think this is going.
The Jewish Israeli woman who loved and was loved by Palestineβs most famous poet died this week. Their romance couldnβt survive politics, but the poetry it inspired is loved by millions. My article for @newlinesmag.bsky.social: newlinesmag.com/running-note...
Pam Bondi has been a complete and total failure at her job. The Epstein survivors showed more courage just by being in that room than she did under oath. She refused to answer questions and chose complicity.
America deserves better.

In a Thursday conversation for The New Republic's podcast, "The Daily Blast," host Greg Sargent (a former Washington Post columnist) and author Sarah Posner examined the connection between ICE raids and far-right evangelical Christian nationalism. www.alternet.org/mike-johnson...
For International Holocaust Remembrance Day, @omerman.bsky.social wrote this moving personal essay derived from his trip to Germany in the spring, to accompany his mother, who is a child survivor of Bergen Belsen, to a ceremony marking 80 years since liberation.

Fascinating insight from @lisang.bsky.social into the intersecting socio-economic, security, & political conditions shaping labour & ownership among diverse Palestinian communities living under various forms of Israeli control

Holding up pictures of βmurderersβ and βrapistsβ doesnβt justify what ICE is doing in Minnesota.

I cannot get over this excellent reportage by Lisa Goldman.
West Bank Palestinians face limited employment opportunities, relying heavily on Israel. The Israeli governmentβs actions, potentially inciting unrest, are impacting both Palestinians and Israelis.

I know... It was hard to write about, too.

exemplary reporting here by @lisang.bsky.social, deeply informed and informative β a really fascinating read, looking at the injustices of Palestinian life and Israeli economics from very different angles than we usually see them

Thank you so much, Philip. This means a lot, coming from you.
Thank you so much, Adam. Means a lot.
Israelis and Palestinians are totally intertwined. This, perhaps counterintuitively, is what has emerged from the past two years of horror as an irrefutable fact. I wrote about this after a reporting trip. newlinesmag.com/reportage/wh...
