The great majority of our archaeological community has voted in favour of the petitions raised by #concernedEAA. We asked for a democratic process, we asked for accountability, and for the need to acknowledge the horrific genocidal policy of Israel against Gaza.

Both starting anew and keeping up the fight are difficult and demanding processes. Have great respect and admiration for those who are trying hard to sort out the EAA.
I don't know. I am at least not going to rejoin the EAA and don't see a future for it. There is no professional body here in Norway, so that is perhaps something to work towards. Conference is more difficult to replace, but maybe Nordic TAG could become an annual event.
I disagree that it will be more efficient to reclaim it. You see how the power structures work now, how bullying and abuse are the control mechanisms. This is hard to eradicate. Let them have their shoddy club.

Veldig fin tekst. Mye man kan si om å være vedtak-nordmann, men vi har i hvert fall oppnådd målbare kriterier for å bli statsborgere, som er mer enn Toje og alle tilfeldighet-nordmenn 😉 (Også: utrolig trist at Aftenposten måtte bruke KI for å oversette fra svensk!)
Got a citation alert for this very interesting new paper! The authors focus on Atapuerca, but more broadly it includes some informative discussions on archaeology and media that will be of interest to those interested in public archaeological communication.
