Back when I was an annoying centrist, I used to read a bit of this site called Intellectual Takeout.

If that isn't the sum total of modern conservatism: feigning depth while consuming slop.

thankfully, i went, "hey, wait a minute, this is crud!" & got out of that.

in retrospect, me not being sure i was good enough to be an ally but still hanging w the GSA a bit might've been a sign i was not cis or straight.

Unsolicited advice: Any 2028 progressive candidate MUST have a Black voter strategy.

Hiring a staffer with expertise is required, not optional -- and please don't hire a Black staffer who thinks most everyday Black folk "aren't radical enough" and/or "don't wanna get free." That's a nonstarter.

like, 8% of voters were LGBTQ+ per an NBC poll, despite only an estimated 5.5% of adults being LGBTQ+. So tell me why we're going after an electorate that punches above its weight in turnout?

GLAAD RELEASES 2024 VOTER POLL: 94% OF LGBTQ AMERICANS ARE MOTIVATED TO VOTE; 72% REPORT NEGATIVE IMPACT OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE ON MENTAL HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING | GLAAD MAJORITY OF REGISTERED VOTERS, INCLUDING SUPPORTERS OF FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP, OPPOSE CANDIDATES WHO CAMPAIGN AGAINST TRANSGENDER AMERICANS 49% OF LGBTQ VOTERS REPORT EXPERIENCING REAL-WORLD HARASSMEN...

And 94% of LGBTQ+ folks *were* motivated to vote in 2024.

You don't win elections by going after & yelling at literally *the* most supportive element in the coalition.

Slagging an entire demographic as problematic when most definitely weren't while letting cis straight white folks go free is just plain bigotry. You demand we take your jabs more than you demand the main voting blocks who gave Trump the White House.

You're rationalizing transphobia despite the data now. If that's more important to you than actually talking to potential voters calmly, you know, like canvassers do, instead of calling trans folks "libtards" or asking "what even is trans rights? bathrooms don't count?" you're a transphobe.

literally voted for her and encouraged others to vote for her. associating attitudes of individual people to marginalized groups is the very definition of bigotry.

86% of LGBTQ+ people voted for Harris. Look at the data and stop victim-blaming folks.

I mean, I think a lot of people are focusing on candidates who have declared for midterms. That's what I'm doing, anyway. We build something now so we can put it behind a candidate later.

I like Pritzker, Warnock, AOC, Beshear, and even Harris is OK in my book. But we need to focus on Congress.

ppl would rather feel morally superior on the Internet than actually conduct outreach where they perceive the other person with human dignity equal to themselves.

It's not even the people supporting him that bother me *per se,* it's that they are so ready to talk down to trans people about how his posturing on trans rights doesn't matter.

like, they're acting objectively worse than him, and they're doing less than nothing for the guy, & in service of what?

07.03.2026 19:54 πŸ‘ 21 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the midterms are coming up. plenty of people *are* doing something. can we stop talking down to trans folks who are understandably scared and build a coalition that includes them through electing downballot candidates?

pardon me, but am I in an alternate universe where Jeb! has won his second term? he was a leading choice in 2014, after all.

like, as a candidate, winning is partially the responsibility of you and your team. that's why people look at what went wrong rather than *just* blaming others.

i mean, it takes two to tango. in electoral politics there's this idea of "mobilizable" voters. sure, they need to mobilize, but that's a two-way street. sometimes convincing is required. unfortunately, that's the way things work.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going β€œwow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic

damn it’s crazy how the slurs filled the chat all by themselves. couldn’t be helped i’m sure. chats are always devolving of their own accord
