Hiring a staffer with expertise is required, not optional -- and please don't hire a Black staffer who thinks most everyday Black folk "aren't radical enough" and/or "don't wanna get free." That's a nonstarter.
like, 8% of voters were LGBTQ+ per an NBC poll, despite only an estimated 5.5% of adults being LGBTQ+. So tell me why we're going after an electorate that punches above its weight in turnout?
And 94% of LGBTQ+ folks *were* motivated to vote in 2024.

literally voted for her and encouraged others to vote for her. associating attitudes of individual people to marginalized groups is the very definition of bigotry.

I mean, I think a lot of people are focusing on candidates who have declared for midterms. That's what I'm doing, anyway. We build something now so we can put it behind a candidate later.
I like Pritzker, Warnock, AOC, Beshear, and even Harris is OK in my book. But we need to focus on Congress.

the midterms are coming up. plenty of people *are* doing something. can we stop talking down to trans folks who are understandably scared and build a coalition that includes them through electing downballot candidates?

like, as a candidate, winning is partially the responsibility of you and your team. that's why people look at what went wrong rather than *just* blaming others.
i mean, it takes two to tango. in electoral politics there's this idea of "mobilizable" voters. sure, they need to mobilize, but that's a two-way street. sometimes convincing is required. unfortunately, that's the way things work.
there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going “wow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic
