Herald on Sunday's letter of the week. It concludes "Christopher Luxon may not be electoral gold dust but it is Nicola Willis who is the millstone around the National Party's figurative neck."

Mลrena whanฤu, the sun rises over Brown's Island as a photographer at Cheltenham Beach crouches to capture the moment. The seagulls seem to have seen it all before. Kia pa to rฤ!

Mexican-American War 1846-1848
Spanish-American War 1898

Was on the winning side in WW1 & WW2

Gulf War 1991 (another joint effort)

Plus lots of wars of conquest against Native American tribes.

Mr Luxon is one of those very rare people whom its impossible to apply a theory of mind. Can you imagine his inner life in any form but its absence? The only books he reads are self-help. He cannot maintain an exchange of complex thoughts. Every interview descends into banalities within minutes

Yes. TBF the sale was concluded after he left Air NZ but I understand it was his proposal.

There's also selling the Heathrow landing slots. Another strategic blunder.

Taking a limo to make a grand entrance should have been the finish of him with serious media on day one.Nothing has ever screamed "WANKER" so clearly, so pompously and so incurably.

Indeed. I have been here since 1993 and a First Term PM under poll pressure is unprecedented. It really is astonishing.

Indeed. Last week I paid $2.33 (after discounts) at Gull - now with the same discounts it's $2.51. Plus 7.7% for petrol which was already refined and in the country. Nice little earner eh?

When people say National are good at managing "the economy" but trust Labour more on environment, housing, safety, taxes, education, inflation, poverty and health...exactly what part of "the economy" do they think National are good at managing?

October 7 was a clarifying and radicalising moment for all decent, thinking people. And in New Zealand none of its warnings were heeded: there were no moral corrections and geopolitical realignments; no urgent action to secure energy independence and a measure of supply chain resilience; nil

Indeed. That's just the pols. As you probably know Aldous Huxley and CS Lewis also died on 22nd November 1963.

(NZ connection - 1999 General Election on 27th November)

Fun fact: on my Dad's birthday, De Gaulle was born, JFK was assassinated, Juan Carlos I became King of Spain and Thatcher resigned (my favourite irony as Dad was a huge fan). So I get twitchy around 22nd November.

FYI, Hooton in today's Herald was saying he has to go "to keep the Labour-Green-TPM horror show out of power."

Can we say 'embattled'?
