Jewish institutions, even Zionist ones, should be falling all over themselves to embrace Zohran because his anti-Zionism is really clearly rooted in nonviolence and humanism rather than antisemitism. And yet!

One of the instances in which it is actually emphatically true that by stifling left-liberal criticism of Israel on a liberal basis you just leave open room for nutjobs to do it and fill the space instead

Tucker Carlson likes him. So does Nick Fuentes. But can he beat Byron Donalds? James Fishback continues to lob racist insults at his front-runner opponent. Crowds like the 200 plus who attended his speech last week in St. Petersburg don’t seem to mind.

also he has defended Nick Fuentes supporters, appeared on Tucker Carlson's podcast, and cites Pat Buchanan as an inspiration, so that's three crypto-Nazis he praises. nice job fighting antsemitism by platforming this guy, Bari!

tbf the Wikipedia article says "Fishback stated that he formed Incubate Debate due to frustration with ideological biases held by National Speech and Debate Association judges," citing something he wrote for the Free Press that I have not and will not read. but you know

James Fishback, a man with dark curly hair and glasses wearing a brown zip-up jacket and white shirt underneath it. He looks like a 40-year-old from the mid 1960s.

would you be surprised to learn that this is a 31-year-old groyper who, at age 24, founded a splinter high school debate league because he found regular high school league too woke? yeah me neither

If you're interested in more, @fohf.bsky.social is a legitimate expert in this space as opposed to my generalist perspective and has posted about it. I suspect that is likely to continue! Her thread started yesterday but deals with the BlackRock headline too.

And to the Nazis, I say:
1) drop dead;
but until then, if engaging in amateur genealogy
2) *many* Americans have lightly Anglicized German names, which you are too dim to differentiate from Jewish ones even when that's possible, and often tracing ancestry is the only way to know (Platner, Gertner)

Outside. Chip holds put a giant bag labeled MIX. He says "I heard you shouldn't feed birds bread, so I brought trall mix. A dark-haired teenage girl smiles ecstatically.

Chip is covered with yellow birds. Dark-haired girl, hand on chin: I guess they do like it better!

three straight 0/10 QDUs though warning: do not feed birds trail mix unless you have checked whether trail mix is good for birds, which I have not. probably need to avoid chocolate?

anyway Chip has ridiculous amounts of game. look how happy today's girl is! in the first panel

I actually think much of the public is basically aright on this. A great many people indeed have this attitude of scepticism, aren't so blood thirsty as the worst propagandists would have us. Yet for some reason, at least here in the UK, there is a terrible filter for access to our journalist class.

Wars are extremely hard things to justify. It is intrinsic to what they are that they tend to death, destruction, and misery. Given this and some knowledge of history, one's default attitude towards powerful people purporting to do the world some great benefit by war should be extreme scepticism.

hm, on a theoretical level I think maybe "reduces the need for labor power" is not what is going to happen--labor will still be needed even if it is applied differently--but the disruption of how labor power gets applied might well undercut bargaining power

06.03.2026 04:00 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

yeah, the quoted passage just isn't in tension with the idea that the difference between exploitative capitalism and FALC is who benefits from the technology. who *is* benefiting? and set up to?

[also, a tech can wind up insufficient for FALC and still enable exploitative capitalism]

I continue to be gobsmacked at 1) how common this formulation is 2) how antisemitic and generally bigoted it is 3) and how for all the talk of anti-semitism this is never cited as an example even though it’s quite literally the original incarnation.
