I think it's pretty important to understand that algorithmically-run platforms have long understood anger and argument drives much more engagement than just showing you stuff you like, and if you find yourself being made to despair at what a platform shows you, that is the system working as intended

this was the IRA, which every senate democrat voted for and every senate republican voted against

i keep desperately wondering when the fever will break and everyone will realize how far gone we are

or will i just have to live for the rest of my life in a country full of people that think 2016-2028 was just a little crazy

Hegseth needs to stand trial after this as a war criminal. Between this attack and the girls' school, there's no ambiguity. He is responsible for mass murder and must be held accountable.

America has a long history of pointless and wasteful military adventurism. And in our quest to normalize Trump we’ve stuck his Iran war in that box: β€œanother war, just like the rest.” It’s not like the rest. It’s an act of insanity, rogue state behavior. Don’t know how this ends until we admit it.

06.03.2026 17:38 πŸ‘ 1314 πŸ” 203 πŸ’¬ 26 πŸ“Œ 15

The American political class is utterly delusional, adrift in a dream of normality, unable to process the actual reality of events on the ground, where the US just launched a completely unprovoked war against a massive country, murdered its leadership, and demanded its conversion to a vassal state.

A digitally drawn homage to the George Herriman comic strip Krazy Kat. Starting left of frame we see yellow Ignatz Mouse having just thrown a brick which is sailing across the center of the frame and in another instant will bash the oblivious Krazy Kat (a blue bipedal cartoon cat wearing a red scarf) in the back of the head as he walks innocently to the right. Everything is drawn in rough black pen and colored in pale washes. A speech bubble from Ignatz reads β€˜Maybe it will…’, the word ’Happen’ appears in the whooshing trail of the sailing brick, and a final speech bubble belonging to the Kat reads β€˜β€¦Today’.

it's really bad for the world that half of the American political system has convinced itself that the concept of diplomacy is fake and gay

Obama’s change in policy towards Cuba and the JCPOA happened, the world didn’t end, everything was fine. Part of manufacturing consent for more war is purposefully forgetting the very recent memory when it was proven to be wholly unnecessary.

06.03.2026 14:56 πŸ‘ 1110 πŸ” 206 πŸ’¬ 9 πŸ“Œ 6

It’s been oddly surreal to hear the news framing the news around regime change in Iran and Cuba as the culmination of decades of shared agreement when Obama did significantly change US policy towards both in pretty recent memory.

Trying to honestly talk about Kamala Harris was and continues to be a minefield because there are many reasons i dont think she’s a great politician but people too often overstep without reckoning with the fact they are talking about a Black woman and feeding certain stereotypes

05.03.2026 15:29 πŸ‘ 107 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 5 πŸ“Œ 1

We need to find a way to talk about Black (women) candidates that is expansive enough to reckon with racism (misogynoir) while at the same time acknowledging those candidates are humans who sometimes make bad policy commitments or campaign choices

One reason I’m uninterested in the Platner thing is that I just watched thousands of school moms and nerdy dudes and queer people show unbreakable resolve in standing up to armed federal agents in relentless, terrifying confrontations, and thus don’t worry that my dorky affect precludes toughness

Look, the "online leftists only like chuddy white dudes" line can be a bit overused, but it's hard not to come to the conclusion when they hate AOC and apparently Zohran too for being too Dem despite being in DSA, but the Maine guy is gonna lead the revolution just by running in a D primary.

Even if assume for the sake of argument that the guy is not a secret neo-Nazi, he seems to be a wealthy guy who is only vaguely ideological, who has spent years kicking around the vaguely populist, vaguely conspiratorial realm of Bro Politics, with a moderate-to-high dose of internet poisoning
