I’ve finished the first draft and I’m mostly done with the second. I’m hoping to get try and get a publisher around February, March at the latest ☺️
It’s also a high/whimsical fantasy. It’s a bit more grounded though. I kind of consider it a spiritual successor to this one lol

Lamplight— a cursed island covered in a poisonous fog during the day, forcing the locals to live at night. Its heart, Blackspring, is home to the main character Hex, a tour guide struggling to find his place in the world.

I think the toughest thing about being a creator is accepting imperfection. Sometimes your best work comes after your mistakes and learning to be okay with that is hard. Remember, even your favorite stories aren’t perfect. Why should yours be? 💕

Chapter I Hollywood be Damned! “April 3rd, 7:42 AM. Hey, it’s Milo here! You know, Milo Brook, the director? What am I saying, of course you’ve heard of me! Well, I’m hopping onto this live real quick just to let all of you know… we’re shooting a new documentary series! Yep, that's right! Milo Brook is back and better than ever, just you wait!” Milo yelled out with a smile while nudging his producer Rina’s shoulder. She lowers her head, letting her stained pink hair dangle over her half-empty plate. “Milo… do we really have to do this now? I mean, it’s not even 8 o’clock for crying out loud! And get off that live, people don’t want to hear about a show that’s not even in production yet!” Milo shoves his phone in her face and smirks while kissing the back of her head playfully, “Clearly, you don’t know my audience! Isn’t that right, everyone?!” He says while showing her the flood of hearts pouring in from the watchers. She swatted his phone away and grumbled before returning to her stale eggs. While cramming his adoration in her face, Jackson, the makeup artist, burst into the room with a brush in hand. The door slammed against the wall behind him. “Milo! Get your ass in here, now! I won’t tell you a second time! And Milo-” he tilts his head and points his brush, “NDA.” Milo’s eyes widen, “Oh shit, you’re right! Sorry, everyone, Milo’s out!” he said, frantically closing the app and locking his phone before jaunting over to Jackson with a big grin, “You're right, time for my glow up!”

It reads: Underneath countless constellations, Hex gazed up at the five moons hanging above. His legs dangled over a makeshift lighthouse, the dim beam swirling beneath only briefly broken by his feet and tail swinging freely. Taking out a small envelope, he opened it, revealing a bronzed coin. Inside, written in red ink, were four simple words: “For my little spark.” Hex’s chest tightened before he stuffed it back into his pocket, eyes on Blackspring glowing in the distance. Flicking his coin into the air, he watched with keen eyes for his tour group to arrive. His old friend Keth waves out from below with an apple in hand. “I’m going to head to the usual spot, okay? Got any requests?” He says with a smirk. Hex shakes his head as he catches the apple Keth just threw up to him. “Don’t do anything too crazy this time. Heard there was an old timer with this group, not to mention a kid. Just… take it easy, alright? Last thing we need is another accident.” Taking a bite, he spits it out and hurls it at Keth, “Ugh-what the hell?! You knew it was rotten!” Keth bursts into laughter while running down the muddy road, waving as he goes. “You should have known better than to trust me!” He screams out before disappearing into the mist. Hex takes a deep breath and looks out at the lake, spotting fog-covered lantern light just on the horizon. Returning to his coin flipping while the boat stopped at the dinghy dock below, he watches closely as the lavish vae step off. Their pointed ears, elegant features, and expensive attire were a stark contrast to the decrepit nature of Lamplight. Their nervous expressions told him all he needed. They were going to be one fun group. Hopping down from the rickety lighthouse with a slam, the visitors gasp and fall back. Hex smirks, tosses his coin one more time before catching it mid-air and sliding it back into his tan shirt pocket. “The name’s Hex, Hex Frati! I’ll be your tour guide this evening! Now, do mind the holes, haven’t had the chance …
